Like the title says, I just decided to get Kira over Fletcher. Are there any loadouts that I should try? Also what are some decent tactics for using her effectively. Thanks for the input. BTW my loadout for her right now is a gold card with the br16 m9 and beckhill with bomb squad chopper and explodydendron.
Just bought Kira, any tips?
Not sure how that is supposed to really help as far as strategies go. Entertaining video but not much information.

Watch how he targets the laser and moves it around. The biggest thing to learn is that. That’s some next level stuff.
As far as loadouts, the one you got is one of my favorites (I have the same one but extra supplies instead of chopper and combat knife instead of stilleto), but I prefer the BR16. The biggest thing you have to figure out is if you prefer the BR or the Dreiss. Both great weapons but different people have different preferences.
If you want the Dreiss I think the one with drilled, extra supplies and cool would be the one I’d shoot for.
The Dreiss doesn’t get explodydendron, and the BR doesn’t get drilled.
Never try to CQC with a good player.
Also, just remember you can spawn the laser from behind cover and simply Q where you want it to go. You only have to touch a target for a brief moment for the laser to go there so he light with your placement and take advantage of that thing’s ridiculous speed.
My only tip would be : never use your quick skill button to use the Orbital Strike. Use the 4 key instead. It’s much more practical like that. You can also make the laser sit to a defined zone and switch back to your other weapons : the laser will keep firing.
Bind orbital strike to extra mouse buttons if you have them, or use 4 if you don’t have a gaming mouse. Using Q messes with your ability to move and you want to be able to move during OS.
on defense try to leave your ammo station somewhere safe that allies would usually stand (usually fairly far from the nearest free ammo box). Once people know it’s there, they’ll likely return to it to resupply. When on attacking team, don’t worry about leaving it in one spot. You’ll probably need to move around a lot, just remember to pick it up before moving a fair distance.
Try to avoid standing in peoples view while charging up your lazor. You’ll likely get shot at and once people know your lazer is down they’ll look for you. Once it’s down, aim as far back behind players as you can to make your laser quickly move around. A slow laser kills nobody.
I’ve seen people post a video of kira on chapel using her laser from next to the EV, I rly don’t recommend doing that. You need eyes on to see that your laser is worth using. Blindly wasting it to kill 1-2 people when you could have killed 5 is silly.
Laser can be used to prevent people from defusing the last C4 on Underground for 6 seconds. Is godly when used at the last objective on Chapel.
Avoid using it on the EV unless your team really has nobody who can significantly damage it
I just got Kira as well, for her weapons, they’re all viable but they’re all much harder to use than the SMG’s, M4 or shotguns.
If you use the burst rifles like u’d use a shotgun (aim for chest/head and strafe more than use mouse) in CQC, u can do pretty well.
As for the laser, i noticed u can fire the laser and once the beam is firing, u can switch weapon and shoot, and now and then use the Q button to aim where u want the beam to go, it’ll then move there slowly. That way u can actually be shooting people while your beam moves to its location.
I like the Dreiss but i find that the damage is not good enough for its difficulty to use.
I like the burst weapons but i find that they got too little ammo for the difficulty of use.
the M4, KEK-10, Crotzni and many more are all WAY easier to use and aren’t that much worse at long range tbh.
Also with the aimpunch, the full auto weapons have it WAY easier again.
In most games with burstfire weapons and full auto weapons, the burst fire weapons are more accurate than the full auto ones, and full auto weapons need to be shot in burst, here, not so much.
Skyhammer is still superior to most mercs, especially support, his Artillery is the best AND has use indoors, where Kira and Arty are useless already having long range weapons, their artillery doesn’t work either…
Skyhammer has the m4 and more hp’s, the m4 is AMAZING for coverfire since u can keep it going full auto through a window or chokepoint and u can reload your own ammo anyway.
That said, i’ll still use her, i tend to like using underdog characters, i also play Fletcher instead of the almighty Proxy or the incredibly easy Bushwacker.
I don’t have Arty yet, i did play him when he was free but i bought Kira first because i never played her before today.

Playing Kira properly is incredibly rewarding, but it also requires that you take advantage of your speed, and familiarize yourself with your weapons and equipment.
Contrary to other fast mercs, Kira’s main strength is not the ability to get into shotgun range; Kira gets absolutely shredded at those ranges. Dreiss used to be amazing in CQC, but the accuracy nerf means you have to be more careful. Burst rifles can melt people if you land a full burst of headshots, but that’s incredibly difficult, and even more so against people who are actively dodging your shots. What you want to do is use your speed to get into good positions, take some shots, and relocate your ass.
Orbital Laser also requires some creativity. As others have said, never use Q. Also, be aware that there’s no need to place it directly on enemies. You may be able to catch them by surprise by calling it down behind cover, and clicking to send it into a group of enemies - it’ll give them less warning. Be aware that you don’t have to hold the mouse button down once it’s called; clicking the ground will send it to that location.
What you want to do is again use your speed: Call it down, move to where you can see your enemies, send it into a group, and GTFO again.
Orbital Laser can also be incredibly useful directly on top of the C4. It’ll give you something like a 5 second window where no one can even get near it to defuse - and a few kills if you’re lucky.

The laser technique can be a big game changer if you know how to use it.

To be fair your doing it in the slowest method of aiming the laser, what you want to do is aim at objects far away because the further you aim away, the faster the laser moves, you can some pretty insane speed if you aim between two objects to hit your desired target.
Kira is all about the flanking and being in the superior position, if your not using your speed to your advantage your doing it wrong. Use your ammo station to block off key pathways or as an early warning system on those same paths. You should be using the BR-16 as its super high dps, Kira’s thin frame and high mobility make it ideal for her. Using the bR-16 you want to maximize the times you have perfect spread when hipfiring, so this means often stopping and playing much like Counter-Strike, you juke stop and fire and resume, throw in some crouches when firing as well, the br-16 gets inaccurate really fast and it’ll take time to master it.
When ADSing and shooting pull your mouse slightly downwards to the right as the gun pulls left and up.
With the laser you want to generally fire at walls and objects up high and far away, the further the laser is from where you aim it, the faster it moves, so if you want to hit people you want to fire a point far away but brings the laser to your desired area, aiming it directly where you want it makes it really slow most of the time.
Hope this helps.
A Stark burst to the head can win you a fight against anyone.
And the laser, well… when you start worshipping the laser light with deadly might, you’ll understand. It takes a while to get used to.
