now the castle ctf map ( bba0-beta2.pk3 that zeus put a link up for ) is in a beta2 stage,
technically i didnt want to post any official notice of it until it was in its final version, but it
is more than playable, so any admin wanting to run the map can, and should also use this

the patch fixes a bug where if a teams flags are taken into a secret place, they got
removed from the game… it was intentional to remove the flag from a player if they did
go into a secret place, and spawn the flag back since its not fair if a player trys to hide
in a secret room with a flag.
basicly its a rather large ctf map, set in a castle with lots of room to run around in, there
are spawns for 64 players ( 96 spawns per team ), as its meant to be run on large servers.
tons of places to explore, plus i tossed in some secret areas to find.
25 minutes or 9 flags to win, i remapped the ic_health and ic_stamina hud images to hijack
them for a scoreboard. there are no tie-games in my ctf, so if a team is tied at the end of
the time limit, the last team that takes an enemy flag will win.
there will be some changes made for the final version, mostly layout but other than that
with the script patch the map works fine.
2 new models, metal style beds you might find in a hospital or ward of some kind,
one with a mattress and one without, no shaders included since they use the stock
et shaders.

I still run Beta1 and the people love it, especially cause it is pretty large.

not worth mentioning, but i added the wilsflame to the mortar shell to see how it
would look on dark maps like radar, and it looks not to bad, really highlights the mortar…
sort of making it appear to be some kind of mini rocket.

thats a blender render, since its hard to screenshot the actual mortar firing/coming in,
you can see it falling to the left and back in this screenshot from radar

i did 3 versions of the mortar flame, but decided to just release the normal flametrail one,
but i was playing with the others and they do look nice… but they basicly let everyone know
where they are, since you can see a smoketrail launched from them…
but they look nice, heres all 3 zipped up, so theres a choice as to which style to choose,
personally i like the pyro trail, either red or blue smoke trail depending on what team launched
the mortar, but it might be to much… i dunno

but they do look like mini rockets more with the smoke trails.

the colored smoke is one of sd’s smoke trail effects, having it red or blue just depends on
which teams projectile its added to… or what team is refrencing it i guess…
i was suprised actually at what it was, it said pyrotrail, so i thought it was some huge flame
effect with black smoke… but it turns out it looks nice the way it is… so i was thinking of using
them in demo playbacks, for nice effects in movie making. i hope someone can make good use
of them.

video of the allies mortaring the axis spawn in goldrush-gals map, the conversion to youtube
from xvid muddys out the black smoke trail somewhat, but you can still see the mortars taking
off in the distance from the allied spawn area, and falling around the bank courtyard due to the
flame from the mortar mod.
hehe looks like christmas time with some fireworks
seems fun, though the falling mortar shell speed, is it reduced or did the mortars always fall so “slow” ?
