“return” = “enter”
as in the key you would press on a typewriter for the carriage “return”
also as in crlf - carriage return/line feed.
there is a doppleganger of this key on the number pad. it’s the same key you use in Enemy Territory to bring up the fireteam menu(Leave/Disband fireteam)
is this a tutorial about 2 and 3 point clipping? if that’s the case you need to hold down the “shift key”(there are 2 of these on a standard keyboard, one on the left and one on the right) and then press “enter” with the shift key held down.
Ok another question then. I load my map in console, and then I fly in spec over it. Everything is fine, except for the ceiling I made, It supposed to be Snow. I did caulk it. What’s the mistake in here ?

You caulked the outside or the inside aswell?
Don’t caulk the inside obviously, it will make the walls invisible!
Yes in one of the tutorials I followed it said caulk the floor and the ceiling …
That probably meant that you should caulk the OUTSIDES of the walls and ceilings.
The function of the caulk texture is simple: All faces with the caulk texture will not be drawn by the game.
It’s therefor best to always texture every side of a brush that will never be seen by any player (backside and sides of a wall for example) with caulk, because it reduces the amount of brushes the game has to calculate and draw thus giving you better framerates.
I guess they mean: caulk it and then add textures only to the visible parts.
fixed it all now.
I just ran into another strange thing. When I try to compile my map (make it a bsp) it… freezes or something. Everything loads swift, then I see a load of textures coming (witch is correct I use a lot of different ones). But it doesn’t make a bsp, it just say Map leaked and that’s it.
That basicly means that your map is leaked, meaning that it is not surrounded with structural walls to make a sealed “container”. Hence Make sure that the map volume is completely sealed with a structural brushes. You also need to include the spawn points and wolfmap object into the sealed volume.
this is really odd, when I try to test my map, and I spawn, I can’t move.
I can shoot stuff, but I can’t not walk.
I checked any brushes near the spawns, nothing is blocking.
Just wondering what I messed up again :lol:
