Juan DaCova is a bug!

Just to mention that Pete is quite useful, almost comparable to Juan in 14 point match. Most people will use otto rather than SR, and maximum instant damage in only once a game is enough to make the game.

You’re correct practically, but I still hope players should win in the game by his skill not by his money. A good game should encourage players to choose various toons to form a team and win with corresponding tactics. Balancing is crucial.

Suds is probably only 15k because nobody used him, not in spite of nobody using him. He was originally a bit costlier, but likely the devs took a look at soldier usage stats or marketplace purchases and ruled that he wasn’t getting enough exposure. In my opinion his ability could use a little love, but he’s a perfect entry-level character as it is. He’s a “beginner” character because the price was set, not because it was intended to be like that, in other words.

As far as the actual topic is concerned, I too think that Juan has overshadowed Pete simply because at best he can still take a 65 damage shot at you, and at worst you’re left wondering where 210 of your HP has gone. Pete has only one square of movement over Juan, and can only use his Headshot ability twice before he’s just “Juan, But Not As Good”. Pete needs something that makes him a little more unique in that regard, which would likely mean giving his Headshot ability another look, or by tweaking sniper rifles so that Pete and Juan are on even ground with each other. I’m personally for the second one, as a 7AP Botherer would mean smarter Headshot ability usage while also taking Juan down a peg, and a 9AP + extra damage Avenger HSR would still be able to be fired twice by Juan, arguably be worth the ability, and would likely see more Avenger use, even if only by one unit.

I dint say sniper is a bug, i said when juan plays a sniper role he is well feared which is why people are are saying he is a bug. Pete plays a more all rounder role, he can move 4 squares and still take a shot wit otto. He can either deal 65dmg or only 40dmg and move one square away to take cover. Pete can also use melee weapons and the instant he needs more dmg to make the kill he can do so. He can also cast his ability earlier to enable critical during his return fire.
Juan is low in mobility, so using melee weapons on him is terrible, he can neither reach fast nor far enough. Juan simply does not have flexibility unlike Pete who can have different play styles and roles.
We should not be comparing Pete and Juan at sniper roles at all as Pete is a balance type while Pete is a Dmg dealer type. One shoudn’t expect all the units in the same class to be equal. They all have their own strengths. What should be stressed here is that Juan is STRONG wit a gun but he isnt a BUG. Unlike Pete+cockler which is an obvious BUG. Im glad that was fixed but i had fun doing that bug myself :stuck_out_tongue:

OMG!!! What tha F**k how he killed me in one round with full life wit an SMG!

Its only a comparison, albeit not precise its relatively the same idea. Some people like to play it far some people like to play it close to the chest. If everyone plays it close, there will be people saying that Carlito+Stumpington is a bug too. Just because juan botherer is strong it does not make it a bug. What im stressing here is that he is strong as a sniper role but it is ABSOLUTELY not a bug. My idea is that although both have high standstill power they have both low mobility. We just have to make better judgement on our part due to their lethality. It also makes you think and make you a better strategist.

I think what makes Juan somewhat different from the other Heavies is that the sniper rifle goes quite a way toward eliminating the Heavy’s disadvantage: Slow movement. He doesn’t need to burn energy getting close enough for a shot - 2 further range than the next-best Heavy. 2 squares is 1/3 his energy saved.

Going invisible also helps. As does a difficult to escape dot attack.

I wouldn’t call Juan so powerful, with or without a Botherer, that it’s a bug. But I believe Juan + Botherer, for the reasons given above, an especially powerful toon. (It may not be a coincidence that he starts with a melee weapon.) I wouldn’t mind seeing his special ability weakened. Or really, changed: ATM it strikes me as too much like Kate’s. And the Juan + Kate synergy is already quite strong.
