Joining spec with new merc

I remember others reporting that they joined a match not in a team, but as spectator.

This happend to me after I freshly bought Thunder with credits and put him in my squad.
I then opend a few Contaminent War cases (which dont have Thunder cards as I learned then) for a few loadouts.
The first match would have been a hotjoined execution and it put me in spec then.

I guess I also had it with other mercs, since I remember a few occasions with speccing. Now Im positiv, its related to a new purchase.

Had this 3 times today. (in Objective mode)
Joined mid game, through the server browser, and started as a spectator. I manually had to chose to join a team.
P.S.: not sure if I had Thunder in my squad, as I often chose different mercs.
