JOIN THE STEAM GROUP to help mobolise Alpha sessions

(Bloodbite) #1

Okay I’ve started a Steam group:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/terrortory

Benefits to using this group as I see it

[ol]
[li]Easy glance at who and how many DB alpha members are online
[/li][li]Ability to announce intended match nights/sessions for those keen on trying to organise this, without having to clutter up the Splash forum… unless the splash boys want to spot these efforts, though I don’t think it’d hurt of at least one of them joined the group too.
[/li][li]The vast majority of gamers these days are going to be using Steam overlays while playing the game, it wouldn’t hurt to add this to our testing process, this will get the linux users amongst us used to the idea of using steam, and then trying the linux steam once the linux client for DB is ready for testing.
[/li][/ol]

As you can see I’m the 1st member/admin. Mention your username here and friend me, then I’ll throw out an invite to the group. As far as I can see I can’t do a cold call invite via steam… have to have played together in a game recently or already be friends.

I don’t have much of a chance to game for the next almost-full-week, but I can use Steam from my phone so I can start processing the group and setting others up with Officer powers to handle further invites and so on.

Good idea, just make sure noone adds DB to their non-Steam games on Steam list and noone says the words DB!

Do you think it really matters if others see DB as what you’re “currently playing” on your friends list? In some ways I can see itbeing a good thing… it could generate some curiosity.

If Splash doesn’t have an issue with it, perhaps it should be a group decision for all those currently in the beta.

I agree about not mentioning it at all in the group itself though.

(DarkangelUK) #8

No one is allowed to know you’re in the alpha yet, it’s part of the NDA, so we can’t set DB as an non-steam game and make it known to friends.

(Rex) #9

I don’t think this is a good idea. I won’t join.

(SockDog) #10

I suggested in IRC that this be cleared by Badman, I’m assuming this was done? NDA states only designated places for discussion of the game.

Otherwise I agree with the sentiments. Once it’s confirmed this is okay with SD then please add me too.

Can we just run a gather bot on IRC chanel?

(murka) #12

(Volcano) #13

Invitations sent

I talked about a steam group to badman already:

(stealth6) #16

Discussions, but what about just saying sending notifications “play now” etc?

(woll3) #17

Here is how i wrote it.

Hey,

Since the Closed Alpha is under NDA, all discussion must take place in the Closed Alpha forums and IRC channel. Once the game goes open beta, Steam groups and such are perfectly fine.

Thanks for asking!

Oh well… I’m on irc most of the time too.

Here’s my steam anyway, if you want to play anything.

(badman) #19

Just to clarify, with the Closed Alpha being under NDA, all discussion and game-related activities must take place within the forums and the IRC channel. I know Steam offers considerable convenience in some areas, but we must adhere to the NDA.

Related, the NDA also covers the very existence of the Closed Alpha and you’re involvement in it, so you’ll need to not divulge that, either.

Sorry guys!

But you guys are cool that we just use this as a means of spotting who’s online “right now” though right? No conversations on the group.

What about if people want to post a “I’m free all Thursday, let’s play then” type event? Is that okay too?
