JOB PROGRESSION

(OUTLAW11) #1

I just want to press “J” on my keyboard and see my current job progression live as it’s happening. Can you make that happen?

Thanks

Job progression? Is that mission progress?

It’s a live feed from any companies you’ve sent your application to, so you know how close you are to getting an actual life.

I thought it was for promotions. Oops.

Too off topic though.

@OUTLAW Dunno, it hasn’t been something crazy demanded because you see it at the end of the game and at the lobby. Sorry I’ve got nothing else for you. @RazielWarmonic #DecentSuggestion

@Ardez I have preferred characters that I cannot use sometimes while pursuing jobs. I’d like to know when my mission/job is completed so I can go back to enjoying the game with my strongest characters. If this happens mid-game then it would be ideal.

Since I’m on missions - will there be an opportunity to “sell” back characters for credits? I have characters I’d like to drop.

Almost definitely not.

  • After a few hundred hours you will have all the mercs and a bunch of spare credits (like me).
  • It devalues the free rotation because there is no threat of ‘wasting’ 50k credits.

The main benefit of that would be encouraging players to try out different mercs without having to wait for free rotation. I get where you’re coming from, but I find it extremely unlikely.

On “Earn … XP with Merc X in your squad” you don’t have to actually use that merc for earning those, he/she just has to be part of your current squad. Since you can’t switch out mercs in a match anyway I don’t understand why you can’t wait until coming back to the lobby afterwards…?

Yes but this isn’t always the case, if the mission is to get support XP with Aura, you can play a fire support like Skyhammer or Arty, but you won’t complete the mission before the next missions come up if you play as Fragger or Proxy.

(OUTLAW11) #10

I get that we can play other characters within the character class, but I don’t want to run support all game if I can switch to engineer (my preferred character class).

@DarkMatterMatt I’m hearing your case. I’d really like an option to inactivate characters from job rotations. I can stand some characters and would like to stop loading into my squad if I could.

I’d personally settle for some type of indicator that comes up on screen and tells you the mission is complete mid-match. (just like how badges come up on screen when you earn them).

Often I only play a support class because the mission wants me to, and I’d be far more useful playing as something else.

So many games I’ve fell short of completing a support mission by what looks to be like 100 support XP or less… and its frustrating because I now have to start up another match to finish it.

The only reason I can see to not have this is probably due to how the missions are even tracked. From my experience it seems that mission progress is only tallied at the end of a match (as well as mid match on stopwatch)

I believe this is the case because getting disconnected from a match in progress, or manually quitting a match results in no mission progression.

I have however, had cases where I’ve been disconnected on 2nd half of a stopwatch mission and retained some mission progress (likely from the 1st half).

An indicator could still be added stating you have completed the mission, but it should state as well that you must finish the match or you forfeit that match’s progress towards the mission.

@SnakekillerX Agree. I like the ‘indicator’ option. Also I believe our level xp calculates in real time, not at the end of a match. I wonder if they could ‘spool’ our in-game xp toward job completion–if we quit the match, we lose it; if we complete we keep it. We can still have an indicator work with this system.

Had some coffee and eventually understood what you were suggesting - my bad.

If the “Teammate Repairing” popup is any kind of indicator people are probably gonna ignore that message anyway.

Maybe one day, ok.
