Javelin needs to be useless

Like the majority of respectable people here, I too want Javelin to be useless in 90% of combat situations with the followings:

Cannot use ability when being shot at
Ability doesn’t do significant damage with at least 2 minutes cooldown
A loud as hell sound cue and 5 seconds charge time

She’s too annoying and is against the core gameplay of Dirty Bomb. Not even previous Splash Damage games have this kind of rocket launching capability like Javelin. She needs a big nerf yesterday

Don’t let people get used to and figuring out how to counter her by giving the community a bit of time before doing any drastic changes. I want my enjoyment to be the same for years before Javelin was introduced and stays that way

I would make Javelin free (after some balancing tweaks) instead of Skyhammer so we can have moving ammo stations everywhere. :slight_smile:

The cycle of “change” in DB:
SD: introduces a new merc.
community (after 7 minutes of playing the merc): new merc is OP because he/she does X better than already existing merc Y
SD: nerfs the shit of ouf new merc, he/she is now trash tier
community: hey SD, why is the meta so stale?

My favorite complaint against Javelin is that other ammo supports don’t have to mash E after spawn and can actually get back into combat faster… :neutral:

Can we have one topic about this merc? Posting same thoughts about this merc in each one of 1000 threads is pointless imo, it makes a mess on forums.

Shes just too good. Way easy to use low risk high reward unless you are stupid enough to kill yourself with it. Easy multikills with almost no time to react to the rocket.
So what are other airstrike mercs position now after Javelin? If they plan to destroy/kill big piles, their airstrikes indicate it early and not like Javelin no time to react and unpredictable if you dont see her. And even with a shorter cooldown than Skyhammers and Kiras airstrike that just makes it worse.
Not saying Kiras and Skyhammers cooldown should be shorter.
Same goes for Fragger and Thunder clearing out those nests, its just better to use Javelin and blow them out with ease.

  • Plus she gives ammo so why even play other explosive/ammo mercs.
  • Plus like in Underground, airstrike positions are very limited so that makes Javelin even better because she can use rocket launcher indoors.

The problem I have with Javelin that I didn’t with previously OP mercs is simply her ability.

Having a 1 second instagib at any moment simply makes the game unenjoyable and throws out any notion of skill based gameplay. Even when Fragger was broken, you could still avoid his nades even though he could toss them so frequently. When a Javelin wants to kill you, she will kill you and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Just as OP said, I think this goes against what the game is about. Stoker’s molotovs got nerfed, because tossing it at someone was a guaranteed kill instantly and her rockets will get the same treatment. Until then I don’t even feel like playing the game, because rockets make the game unplayable imo.

It takes cpl of seconds before Kira’s laser, Arty’s arty, Sky’s arty. Maybe increasing the launch of the rocket would solve all the possible problems with her.

This trash game I use to play called APB has a rocket launcher in it. It use to be instant firing and got nerfed to have a 1.75 second wind-up. With that change they gave it a really loud charging up noise that could be heard 100 meters away. Anytime someone was charging it up, everyone knew about it.

Something like this should definitely be done to Jav’s rocket.

Skilled artys still sweep the floor against Jav. Same with Kira (you don’t even have to be that skilled there)

Jav need a few tweaks to rocket speed and maybe an increase to fire time but that’s all I see is wrong with her. I don’t even own the merc and I’m still fine with her abilities and having to go against them
