Japanese PC release

Hi there,

On the JP brinkthegame portal, it only lists a PS3 and Xbox 360 release for late May.
Any word on if a Japanese PC version will be released or some sort of translate pack?

Why? There’s all kinds of localizations, why not Japanese?

hmmm, could be that’s just the language options for the website though, but maybe you are right.

Maybe so many Japanese speak english as a second language it’s less of an issue, but I would think if someone wanted to localize it for Japan SD/Bethesda would support them, at least on the UI. The biggest issue would probably be the voice acting, and maybe SD/Bethesda would rather not have any voice acting that they didn’t control so as to maintain quality.

Not sure who is responsible for localization, is it SD or Bethesda?

Yea, about the language pack. I live in Sweden, does this mean that I will hear everything in Brink in swedish? I think i’ve read it somewhere.

Fenda, Bethesda has kind of been caught with their pants down on this. Information is just now starting to trickle out on the availability of different versions/territories being served. First of all, hereis the Bethesda page, and as you mentioned, there is no indication that there will be a “Japanese” PC version.

Since the English and other Localizations for the PC version will be available via Steam, I have no doubt that you will be able to buy it for your PC, you just might not have Japanese language support immediately (though I would be surprised if it wasn’t made available later). Do you need the Japanese language? You are communicating here just fine in English.

Frankly, I am hoping that I will have the option to choose German on mine. I would love to learn all the oft repeated phrases auf Deutsch. lol

Edit: DOH! It took me so long to write this (with all the domestic interruptions) that by the time I posted it, Raga had beat me to the link.

I am a native English speaker so it’s fine for me. But I live in Japan and if no native Japanese PC version is released for a game here, it doesn’t sell well - i.e. there will only be a small online community!

So May 26 (the release date advertised on Steam for Brink in Japan) has come and gone. And we’re still waiting for the game to be released.

I understand that the release date for the Xbox was moved to 6/16 and the PS3 is now TBA, but as a change in date was not advertised on Steam, why are we still waiting for it to unlock?

I bought this game on a military base here in Japan on the 10th of may, and still can’t install it! Why can’t they just release everything at one time?

Steam is FAMOUS for delaying game releases. I will probably just take it back to the store since it is unopened box. I don’t even want to play this game anymore. I hate getting jerked around.

I e-mailed Steam support last night, and of course, they still didn’t e-mail me back 24hrs. later.

THIS IS WHY STEAM SHOULDN’T HAVE A MONOPOLY OVER ALL OF THE GAMES NOW. JUST ABOUT EVERY GAME I BUY NOW NEEDS STEAM TO INSTALL! WHAT HAPPENED TO COMPETITION??? STEAM SUCKS!

It looked to me like there wasn’t going to be a Japanese PC version so I just got the English PC version. I’ve seen that for a few games so far - the Japanese versions are only released on consoles.
