Jaeger's Vassili Conundrum

Hey y’all. Figured this thread would be more suitable in the New Players than in Merc Discussion but if mods think otherwise feel free to move it!

I’ve been playing Vassili quite a fair bit lately, to the point where I can atleast somewhat reliably headshot most players, but I have been thinking over a topic regarding Vassili. Where is he most productive to his team?

My gameplay as Vassili is kind of similiar to how I play Red-Eye. Aggressive, Frontline and when the opportunity arises, Flanking for headshots. It has gone pretty alright but I couldn’t help but consider the similiarity between my gameplay of Vassili and of Red-Eye. Most of us would agree that a Sniper in general sticks behind his team and pick off key targets, but in a game like Dirty Bomb that’s perhaps not as good as you’d expect. So it raises the question;
What’s a more preferred Vassili? The one that stays behind his team more passively and defensively, or the frontline sniper that’s more active and aggressive?

The reason I put this in New Players is, while I have a fair time of gameplay in DB, I would always love some advice on how to get even better and perhaps, at the same time, a discussion like this could instruct new players on some things to consider when playing Vassili.

Cheers!

i prefer to have an aggressive sniper on my team. At best they can still get headshots and throw their hbs and are a bullet sponge with an smg at worst. @Amerika has a video on it if you want to watch that.

Yeah, that’s one of the videos I first saw when trying to understand how to play Vassili. So aggressive is better if you play as a sniper, that’s good to hear!
