Jack-of-all-trades Build
D’oh! My dyslexia kicked in, that should have been: “JoAT FTW”

I have a level 20 Medic but I have yet to use the Lazarus Grenade with any effectiveness. How exactly does it work? Is it like throwing revive syringes to multiple downed teammates clustered together?

-JJ

EDIT:

Hee hee, this is the tactic I always used in W:ET and ET:QW. Go out, expend all your resources, get killed, then respawn. Rinse and repeat.
I LOVE LAZARUS! Almost as much as I love EMP. Basically if your in a firefight and can’t reach a revive on the opposite side of the corridor then launch it. Also if you have a number of grouped fallen people aim the nade in the middle and all get ressed. My best Lazarus so far is 5 people

OK, I’m trying to decide between Transfer Supplies and Sticky Bomb. I’ve only used Sticky Bomb with my pure Operative build and only thrown directly onto enemies. Yesterday I saw a Sticky Bomb on the ground and it never went off.

Can you just throw it down and they won’t blow until an enemy steps on it? If so, I can see both offensive and defensive uses for the Sticky Bomb.

Anyway, Transfer Supplies is more team-focused but is useful regardless of the situation/objective while the Sticky Bomb is all about taking down the enemy.

Any thoughts?

I once had supplies transferred (via Transfer Supply) to me at the end of Security Tower and it aided us in winning the match. I don’t choose it, but definitely see a point to it. Sticky Bomb is good to have for Operative.

Also you will have much less of a dilemma with Jacks once the DLC hits because you will have 4 more points to use!

How specifically did the transfer supplies help? What class were you and what did you do with the extra pip?

(wolfnemesis75) #45

This ability takes advantage of the Medic’s Increase Supplies and Improved Increase Supplies to provide you resupplies. I was nearly dead. I was a heavy soldier. With my maxxed out health, I downed 3 dudes and I was able to get to Nechayef because a revive had been thrown to him. Then I escorted him by myself around the corner. The game went in to over time. I fought off enemies as I walked backwards, and we won.

(burawura) #46

Just finished my all round build and this is what I ended up with:

Battle Hardened
Supply Max Increase
Resupply Rate Increase
Sprinting Grenade
Sprinting Reload
Silent Running

Flashbang Grenades
Grenade Mastery
Frag Blast
Grenade Damage

Increase Supplies
Improved Increase Supplies
Improved Life Buff
Lazarus Grenade

Light Turret
Medium Turret
Gatling Turret
Improved Weapon Buff

Caltrop Grenades
EMP Grenades

I might redo the soldier abilities to:

Flashbang Grenades
Armor Piercing Ammo
Kevlar Vest
Extra Magazine

if I find the enhanced frags not worth the 3 points. So far they seem pretty nice though.

That’s a cool Jack Warrior. I may have to use this as a template. Good stuff.

As far as Sticky goes you can throw it on the ground and if an enemy steps on it they are stuck just like if you had thrown it and hit them with it.

(Shadowcat) #49

I don’t even have transfer supplies on my main medic. Doesn’t seem often that a supply pip would be better spent than on a revive/heal.

(burawura) #50

But if an enemy sees the sticky laying there, they can shoot it to blow it up.

(wolfnemesis75) #51

Sticky can be removed by a teammate. So, I am not as big on the stickies as some other skills. Just my opinion. I have a fully speced Op with them, but my hybrid doesn’t have them. Caltrops are far more useful imo.

(Jimmy James) #52

Seems to work good for defense when there aren’t enough Soldiers to hand out ammo. The Medic basically doubles as a Soldier for that purpose. Also, two medics with three supply each are better than one medic withsixl supply since you can only heal/revive at a set speed.

The first time I noticed a sticky on the ground since the game came out. Now that I know I’ll keep an eye out for them and try to place mine in inconspicuous spots. It also explains all those times I suddenly had a Sticky Bomb on me when no enemies were around.

Just leveled my JoaT build to level 20. Here is my current ability distribution (though I may make changes after some testing.):

Sprinting Reload
Resupply Rate Increase
Silent Running
Downed Fire

Soldier Abilities
Extra Magazine

Medic Abilities

Engineer Abilities
Command Post Upgrade
Improved Weapon Buff
Extra Land Mine

Operative Abilities

Caltrop Grenade
Hack Turret
Cortex Bomb

I’ll do some testing and report my results.

Thanks for everyone’s continuing input,
JJ

(wolfnemesis75) #54

there are a lot of cool builds here. I have all of my class specific dudes, so am working up a Jack. I could see having different versions with plus and minus abilities in specific classes.
Comms Hack benefits your team to a far greater extent - suddenly getting a flash as to where the baddies are is a huge help, particularly on ‘carry x to point y’ missions like Container City, Terminal and Refuel. It also helps you when your team is defending a location with multiple approaches.

Firewall adds a few seconds to a hack time, Comms Hack is genuinely useful.
Why is the Comms Hack so useful? I mean doesn’t all it do is tell where the enemy are on the radar that almost no one ever use? Also for how long does it last? I’d like to know before wasting an ability thought I just used my last one in HomingBeacon.

About the Soldier with (Extra magazine), what’s so useful about it? I mean, you already have quite a lot of ammo and it takes only 1 pipe and 2 seconds to refill ur ammo up to ur maximum so there’s no point of wasting an ability only to refill at max + 1 clip. It’s like when you go at McDonald, why pay for a large bottle of juice when you can get the smaller one for water that is totaly free, if it’s possible to refill unlimited?!

It lets you give other people more ammo, which is very useful for the people who cant supply themselves.

I decided to switch the soldier abilities to the Flashbang Grenades/Armor Piercing Ammo/Kevlar Vest/Extra Magazine setup. The extra/better frags just aren’t worth it as Soldiers have limited supply to start with and Scavenge (like Comms Hack) doesn’t seem usable most of the time in a decently competitive game.

Oh and Comms Hack seems to last a good 5-6 seconds which ingame is a long time. Despite the fact that you have to crouch over a body of an enemy for a few seconds to use it (provided they don’t just tap out or aren’t gibbed outright by their killer), it’s a really good buff for the whole team.

(Shadowcat) #58

The soldier is one of the harder classes to cut down, all of the skills are pretty useful.

(Bittermetal) #59

Yeah as a soldier. I can’t give up my satchel charges. Great placement and you can dominate. For instance… on or near a command post. As soon as I hear “Enemy is taking out Command Post. Stop them Brothers!!” I just set off that particular charge. Its a kill almost every time. Similar placement around similar objectives is equally as good.

The ability to set them off 1by1 is great thinking on SD’s part.

(Jimmy James) #60

I find the one ability (Extra Magazine) I invested in for soldier is sufficient for me since I only switch to that class for HE objectives or when there aren’t enough soldiers to supply ammo.

Also, playing today, after playing a few days with my one-class builds, I find the JoaT build to be a little disconcerting because I’m constantly looking to use abilities I expect to have as the various classes but don’t. After a few maps I get used to it though and the versatility of the build makes it a lot of fun to play.
