I've really started to 'get' Brink

I played a few matches yesterday with human players and it was the best fun I’ve had in multiplayer for years. Reminded me a bit of Shadowrun, but better.

I got Brink on Xbox 360 when it first launched in the UK. To be honest, I couldn’t get past the murky low res graphics and terrible texture pop in. I could feel there was a great game underneath but it just wasn’t working for me so I traded it in.

Then I saw that the price had reduced to £21.99 at Game so I ordered Brink for PS3 which I had read had much better graphics. The PS3 version is a definite improvement. There’s still some texture pop in but it looks miles better than the Xbox version.

And I’m absolutely loving it. I suck at CoD - too twitchy for me - and I’m finding that I’m actually pretty good at Brink. The SMART system works really well for me. Love sliding into a battle. I like the way you need to really shoot someone before they go down (rather than the CoD one second kills). I really like the different classes and abilities. Great, intense firefights around objectives and it’s great to see skill turning the tide of a battle.

Add me to your friends list if you’re in the UK and want to join a game: Chilli_Mouse

PS - Before I get flamed, I’m not a PS3 fanboy! In fact, I generally prefer the Xbox - better controller IMO and most multi platform releases look better on Xbox… Just not Brink for some reason!

i think with a good dev the xbox and ps3 are almost identical in terms of gfx. some devs just develop on xbox then do a lazy port, not using the power of the multicore ps3 cpu to help on the gfx front.

Thanks Wolfnemesis!

Just started the Lobby/Chat yesterday but its already working wonders with finding just those up for Big Teams, I still keep the BallsPartyof2 chat open most times and another one which was started here. When people want to join i either invite them to the Big Teams chat or invite their other chat to the match. Had a bunch of full 8v8 games late last night after it looked deader then usual, Lobby/Chat def helped alot with keeping team full!

Xbox and ps3 are pretty much balanced in terms of what they can achieve in terms of graphical layers and textures.

Xbox is easier to code for, that’s the only reason that multi-platform releases tend to favour the microsoft console.

The advantage that ps3 has is that when it’s coded for properly to take advantage of the nature of it’s processor, it can afford more at once than the xbox can.

I have both consoles, and I think the xbox is my favourite by quite a way, but I’ve yet to play something as graphically rich as Uncharted 2 on the 360, for example.
