I've got a serious issue going on here and I need some light shed on it /sorta rant I guess

Okay, so first of all, I have like 515 hours played in DB so I’m not your average newbie.

I reckon from all the hours I put in this game I got the feel of how balanced and how the weapons, both melee and ranged should work.

Well anyway. I don’t know if any of you remember (probably y’all do) Beyblade Phantom and I’m pretty sure you remember how they dealt with it. Nerf melee completely on everyone and generally turned it into a useless mechanic… Okay. They then reverted it on the left click melee and y’all know the rest of the story with right click still being awful.

That not only destroyed Phantom’s signature WEEOOOWEOOO, (despite us being told that everyone is supposed to be getting the katana and yadda yadda, tbh I don’t believe that either, but that’s beside the point).

Anyway I haven’t played DB since exactly 25th of September. I tried it again today, 30th of October, only to find out that melee is still the same and on top of that burst rifles are wrecked too.

Personally, I don’t believe that burst rifles have their place in this game at all to be honest, “mid to long range” when all the actual fighting is happening in close range unless you’re a sniper merc (and then it’s not a battle), let’s be honest here.

Now what I really want to know is WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THIS GODDAMN FAD OF DESTROYING CERTAIN MERCS?

Here’s a goddamn suggestion:

Remove burst rifles from the game completely and add some other auto-fire weapons for the mercs that had burst fire weapons SINCE APPARENTLY DIVERSITY DOESN’T WORK AND IF IT DOES IT GETS NERFED effectively destroying the mechanic and mercs it came with.

I made a joke thread back in July (4 months ago) when melee was completely destroyed and apparently there’s something more serious going on with this fad of completely ruining mercs and certain weapons.

Now I’m not saying the burst rifles are as bad as the melee mechanic was back then, what I’m saying is that there’s a constant flow of screw-ups going on and we can’t do anything about it.

I have to agree. If they want to make something unplayable, the best way is to make it disappear. You can’t complain about what doesn’t exist, so if there is no burst to take someone’s Proxy down in a third of a second, there are no complaints.

I kinda feel like SD overdoes nerfs. Phantom needed less shield on the cloak and a melee fix, then he became Casper the freakin’ friendly ghost. Bursts were pretty neat on the right hands and still able to deal with it decently on close combat, so they were nerfed.

I miss the not-so-old times.

Melee didn’t need to be nerfed, but Phantom’s shield ability definitely did. I think he could use a melee buff now, but that’s about it.

Burst fire rifles should not be removed entirely - they were actually fantastic before the nerf, IF you could handle the tap (which a lot of us learnt to do). They didn’t completely outclass the M4, but if you could hit those burst perfectly it would end up with a much higher DPS (although the more perfect you try to burst, the higher the risk of ‘jamming’ the bursts).

But now the burst fire weapons are just shit. I’ve tried many hours with them thinking “look, you don’t know if they’re actually shit yet - just learn the timing and maybe they’ll be great”. BUUUUUT nope - they’ve completely lost their shooting consistency, mostly due to the gap between the bursts that is now forced on you. If nothing else, that gap needs to be reduced significantly.
