Its possible for us to have a PVE mode?

(Drophys) #1

This game has potential for a pve mode, with a bit of lore for us understand the mercs reasons to fight, something like that will increase the game’s weight

An excellent project for the execution strike team…

Not much, but there is tutorial and speedrunning map.

Every merc should get own tutorial, that is also short background story. When you unlock mercs, you unlock new tutorials. When you pass first time your tutorial, you get reward. These tutorials should be “speedrunnable” and have some simple bots with solid movement/shooting pattern. These bots should look like common stereotype soldiers/civillians with little of variation and only some basic AR. There could be exeptions, like guardians iron dome tutorial. There could be speedrunning top list.

Only reason I started to play this game was name of “Dirty Bomb” and I expected to have some decent nuclear warfare lore. Possibly some epoch scenes where proxy cries because her boyfriend turned against her, in cross mercenary mission and she had to kill him doubting if he ever loved her. Skyhammer, some bald military diplomat that got almost assasianated but escaped cynical corrupted goverment. Rhino, whose 3 year old child died in radiation etc. You know, some Black Mirror stuff in post-apocalyptic london format.

I would love to see a PVE mode or at the very least, a new gamemode or Execution back… We only have one gamemode currently and it is boring after playing it for over 2 years. Plus, the map design and overly balanced weaponry makes it even more boring. Just my opinion. :stuck_out_tongue:

It would be pretty cool, I’d say. Like a ragtag team of Jackal’s vs waves of CDA soldier fodder.
Imagine it:
The camera watches a Jackal helicopter flies off, and it lowers onto Proxy, Stoker, Sawbonez, and Rhino as they walk into a closed off, war-torn, area. Busted up cars riddled about, overgrowth on everything, a few fires still smoldering from hooligans being somewhere they probably shouldn’t. The group banters about random… uhhh, mercenary stuff, until they eventually mention that they should focus on what the mission: some kind of MacGuffin probably.
As they close in on the MacGuffin, a gunshot hits Rhino in the armor and the team gets sent into a panic. They soon realize that the attack is from the CDA, and that backup isn’t coming anytime soon, and get ready for a fight. A team of CDA soldiers do the same, and the PVE event starts.
In-game banter includes: Proxy accuses the Jackals of setting them up, Sawbonez argues that the Jackals have no reason to do so, Rhino overthinks things with calculations and statistics, and Stoker just wants to make some tea.
I don’t know, sounds cool to me.

Dude, you don’t even know the crap I was looking into. I was so starved a year into playing this game I wrote a 27 page romance fic about Phoenix and Sparks and how Sparks was called Jeff because her first boyfriend was a trucker that cheated on her so she took his identity and went to London with her Medical background because she wasn’t gonna pay for his sorry butt. And she met Phoenix, who’s father disapproved of him because he wasn’t willing to be a top tier doctor in Seville because he wanted to be an artist or a computer technician, and not a surgeon. When he realized that he could have the best of all worlds by funding a nano technology team of a friend from College and do plastic surgery among the best he decided to do art with people’s faces until his retirement kicked in. Which was right before the Dirty Bomb attacks. Not out of the kindness of his heart, but just because he wanted to see the beauty of nuclear effects on an unforgiving nor caring populace to his medical treatments. This crap was dark, there’s more and Fletcher’s backstory is involved too.

@Mc1412013 @Xenithos
I always imagined Skyhammer being like the mediator between CDA and the Jackals, like there is a bar that the CDA and Jackal go to in the wasteland, and he’s always there telling stories and making enemies at least tolerate each other.
I may or may not be working on a 3-part comic that is a prequel to the events of the “Scrubs” trailer, that includes this :3

A lore is important will help players to pick a side, do you like the Jackals or the CDA, i have no idea who is who and why they fight

As the Javelin trailer said, it’s not about picking a side or caring about the objective, it’s about doing what you’re paid to do. But I getcha

Its cool to know the mercs motivation to do what they do, like for instance i like to think that Skyhammer has a wife and a little girl child and he is a merc because it pays good money and he want to give a better future for his little girl

(Chilled Sanity) #13

Weeeeeell… honestly I’m not even gonna be picky, it doesn’t even have to be PVE…as long as it is a new game mode I’m honestly fine with it at this point

I think something similar to MvM would work well in this game. Obviously it’d have to be dirtified but it could work!

Oh wait… Man verus Machine? Oh absolutely. That became my favorite gamemode in TF2 the moment it dropped. It was also my favorite one in Hawken. The sheer craziness constant fast paced adrenaline as you yourself are like a virtual tower defense game. Hawken’s was more of a survive the wave type though.

I’ve also always enjoyed Zombie modes, though not necessarily every map of zombies from CoD. If you ever played Fireteam from Combat Arms that was my jam.

(Chris Mullins) #16

PvE would be cool to have, but DB is primarily meant to be a PvP game. Once we’ve got that locked down, anything’s a possibility.

(Xenithos) #17

I’m not sure we’ll ever have PvP locked down.
But I’m all for whatever that means! :stuck_out_tongue:

(K1X455) #18

Borderlands 2 is a co-op PvE notorious for out of scale combats if that’s your kind of thing.

It’s also in UE3

(Szakalot) #19

DB PvE sounds like a collossal waste of time: 99% of the fun here is the skill based combat - completely gone in PvE

Yeah there’s no such thing as skill in PvE

Bots can be as skilled as the devs want.

If there’s no skill in PvE then it’s a really bad PvE lmao
