Italy by who?

Greetings ,

I usually don’t write these kind of posts when I am new around the forums but this just got me really pissed off.

Yesterday I was walking past my bro’s room and noticed him playing ET on a map that looked very familiar . It seems it was from Counter Strike , although I cant really remember what it was called ( it’s been a long time since I played it ) , anyway I know that conversions of maps are popular these days but this really caught my eye. It seems that on the command map thingie or w/e you call it was written in big words “Italy By Indyjones”. Correct me if i am wrong but should it not be Conversion by Indyjones and the original author should have “Map By (author name)” or something ? I am against these kinds of things so I tried googling for Indyjones ET and it seems this forum popped up .

Right , so here I am and I’m kindly asking for the person under the nickname of Indyjones to edit the command map .

Cheers ,

P.S. Here’s a image of the command map :

So you mean to tell me he made the map for counterstrike and then converted it to ET ? Check this image and compare it to the first one that I posted :

it’s not a counter-strike conversion. i didn’t use any single file from counter-strike to build it for ET.
what’s the problem?

As far as I remember there are already two threads with that discussion here in the forums.
Actually the discussion began in the thread about the map and was continued in a seperate thread.

actually if we take only that sentence of him --which was his main point btw – that is, “it would be better to name it <<conversion by indyjones>>” rather than <<by indyjones>>", i agree with him (p.s. i was who in the other thread sided with indy against the othergame- & textureprotectors :P)
and its ok despite u might didnt even touch cs but stating only what u stated in ur post is misleading as u perfectly know its a cs map no matter u worked from another conversion or whatever

I thought that Indy created the map from scratch without actually converting/decompiling the original source material. If that is the case, I don’t think there is any problem with him claiming credit for making the map. It does take a lot of work to create one. However, it would be more appropriate to acknowlege that the design is based on an original CS map.

But I’ve seen plenty of maps in ET and others where the author is trying to recapture the gameplay of a map from an older or different game. For instance, one mapper recreated the Wake Island map from Battlefield 1942 for Battlefield 2. Only to have their map quickly replaced by an official version a few months later.

I agree too, would be nicer. ( i never noticed that thing as i have not played it ) But i dont think there will be a new version of this map? or am i wrong
