Issue with activating code for alienware case

I apologize if this is the wrong forum for this, but I recently got a code for an alienware case. I had gotten one a while back and someone was giving them out on steam and I got one. However, after I put in the code and click NEXT Steam stops responding for a good 15 seconds before a notification comes up saying that my account already owns the product(s) associated with this code.

Since it says I already own it that would leave me to believe that the guy didn’t give me a BS code. Anyone know how to get this to work?

Product like that can only be activated once. Its like if it was registered in steam as one product even if there is thousands of different code for it. Therefore even if you have XXXX code you only get to have the alienware cases once and so one time the loadout you cant cumulate them, so if you got one a while ago its normal you cant enter this one. You can use that code only on an account who doesnt have the alienware cases corresponding

That seems a little odd. It’s not like you’re putting in two codes for the same game. It’s for an item in the game.

They did it like that to help discourage farming of codes.

yeah but if you want this item is considered kinda like a DLC. So if you have it you cant redeem it again… It sucks but we cant do anything about that. If we could do that i’d have farm the codes to have all my favorite loadout xD
