Is this what it's like being Vassili?

True to an extent, but assault/fire support/medic/engineer being useless usually means they’re playing TDM. So at least they are meatshields that will absorb enemy attention. A useless Vassili doesn’t do that.

“You need to give more ammo man!” - said to me by one of my teammates. I was a lone fire support (Arty) in a team of 8. 4 packs on cooldown vs 8 people = do the math.

@MarsRover i never meant useless vassili … as @Rjsto told even when a good vassili player plays they scold him to change the merc … i have experienced a lot of this in execution

Val is the most depressing merc to play against. Its a little better now that he doesnt insta gib but 1 HS still kills most mercs. This stigma will always make people rage!

I have been playing him a lot lately for fun but I’m also level 62 and have a Val Founders skins so being called a haxer is slightly less.

Did this last night and turned the server over around 3 times haha!

Overall majority of players should stop thinking of their win/lose ratio (it doesn’t show anywhere albeit being recorded: who cares, no e-penile enlargement kit usage available) and just go with the flow.

I attempt to follow a way much like this; I don’t mind even if there are 3 bottom scoring Vaselines or anything such in the team, I just screw it then and pick a fun merc or set myself a melee-kill goal or something silly. Usually these deadweight players don’t care for the course of game either, they want to learn ins-and-outs of the class. But if they start going “defuze defuze nub tiim” etc. in the chat, that’s the moment to point out how about them trying something useful if they’re honestly having the itch to win. I don’t see any wrong in trying mercs in pub settings, that’s the way to go actually. Albeit some peeps should realize when to just try something else…

For me a simple “Oh I thought we were just goofing around and not tryharding since there’s so many people not doing their class jobs and picking completely unnecessary mercs to begin with” sentence usually works. If they insist on raging and blaming after that, it’s mute time and forget, those fellas are beyond help.

TL;DR: Gaming community has to start dropping the “free win or switch server” mindset. Starts with you. Yes, even you who don’t even think in such way at all. Educate those people. With bullets. In the face. No, wait, with well constructed, short arguments. I don’t judge though, I’m still in process of detailing such catchphrases myself too. Nothing wrong in urge to win, there’s just time and place for that, and after all winning is not all there is to having a good game and entertainment.

You can do better than that… I mean come on 21 deaths? Anyway I have been trying to get the hang of vassili as my plan to play the merc I rarely touch and find him to be a pretty good merc. I am slowly getting the hang of him but still not seeing the numbers (such as yours - 40k, 110/21) pop… any tips/suggestions?

Sounds so familiar to me. People expect something from you but they don’t think about simple things like: “Is it possible for him to give me that?”

Actually useful Vassilis are incredibly rare and people like to blame a Vassili player when they’re losing since that’s the easy thing to do. I probably play him better than most (meaning I actually use the motion sensor and don’t stay in one place) but I still don’t play as him much since I’m not exactly adding enough in my view (since I’m not accurate enough on him) while playing as him and usually there’s at least 1 or 2 already. Redeye is honestly more of my style with him being a hybrid. I do get flak for playing as him and get wrongly called a sniper and blamed for stuff when I’m actually moving with the team and quite often am doing objectives that the 3 engineer players on my team can’t seem to do.

Well I main vassili I have been doing it for a while, my first merc i bought, first cobalt loadout i got from a normal case, so it was and is still my favorite, vassili it’s more a team player than people can think of he needs the team as much as the team can use one good vassili. The key to him it’s to know when and how to use him, if you team is pushing X space then put your heartbeat sensor where they can get flank so you can know if your team is getting flanked to take care of the enemy or they notice before they hit them, as a sniper you will have to be mainly behind your team not sitting in the base as a statue although you will have to keep moving constantly changing position, adapting to where the enemy team is placed so you can get a view or a advantage point on them, moving it’s essential. And finally vassili part on the team it’s support most than a pure cold hearted killer, he has to inform the team where they will or are getting flanked, take out whenever possible dangerous targets (airstrike, medics, etc.) Flank the enemy team whenever possible, etc. Vassili it’s a great merc in good hands sadly it has a poor reputation on casual because every new player to him thinks he has one job to snipe like if it were COD and that stigma has gotten into him, either way if you are a good vassili you can shut up people pretty quickly it’s pretty easy to spot a good vassili from a bad one.

I had a similar breakthrough last month - turns out, I can actually play sniper! Still not my go to merc, but I’m less hateful of my Vassili loadouts now.

(SaulWolfden) #30

Just saying you might want to space that out a bit so people can read it.

(XavienX) #31

Actually I have one thing to point out. Sometimes you see a Vassili with a low KD but a handful of points, usually it means they are throwing their heartbeat sensor out and getting a lot of points for spotting enemies because they throw them in the right places to help his team. Other points come from the loads of assists if their aim seems to be cocky that day and they couldn’t hit any headshots, only bodyshots, and having their teammates finish their target off, it proves that they actually can hit shots. So basically KD doesn’t really say a lot about Vassili at times.
