Is this how its suppose to be?

Love the game!

but am I correct in assuming that if I make it to level 20 with one character that is a medic, and another level 20 character that is an engineer. That I have to pick which one to play? So when I start playing my level 20 medic and in the same game switch to engi class it will be like switching to a level 1 engi right? or am I missing something.

I think so, at least from the live streams I’ve seen.

You can level your favourite classes more than least used classes.

If you are on your medic character and you have every medic abbility there is but no engi abbilitys, then your engi will only have his base abbility, characters are seperate from eachother.

I thought I read somewhere that in between matches you can change something about your class or body type?

Body type.

At level 20 you will have been able to use 20 ability credits on your character. There are only 11 medic abilities. You would then have 9 abilities to purchase from either the universal pool or other classes to increase your options when using those classes with this character.

You can focus on one class for a character, or
you can make 2 well rounded but not quite complete classes for one character, or
you can follow a jack-of-all-trades type approach where you pick and choose abilities so each class has something and you have some of the important universal abilities.

You keep one character during a match (no switching characters or body types) but you can change classes.
In between matches you can go back to the main screen and choose a new character or a new body type for the character you are using.

You should think about duel-specs. Basicly what you do is instead of investing all your points into universals and say soldier abilities you spend less points in the universals so you can spend points on 2 classes to make them effective. Gives you less options when playing one of those 2 classes but gives you extra flexibility in that you can play as 2 classes in the match instead of only 1.
