Because you have Founder packs and usually F2P games has it. You didn’t mention if its F2P or B2P game.
Is this game gonna be Free-To-Play ?
In Coverop’s defense the main site doesn’t mention “free” until you scroll all the way down.

What I’m personally interested in is knowing what kind of F2P model will be used exactly. Specifically, I would like it set in stone that the game will never ever ever be ‘pay to win’ before I start thinking of investing in one of the packs. It would also be nice to have some more info on the basic mechanics of the game, such as will there be gun customisation, character customisation, hats, skins, special underwear, whatever? I’ve never played any of the other games but even if I had played them, I’ve seen no mention of ‘this game will be exactly like game X’ or anything of the sort.
If it is truly F2P like Enemy Territory, then for me the sins of Brink and ETQW will be forever erased. If it is F2P as in more like P2W like Retribution or Warface, then they will get no support from me. Would love to be able to have the fun I had for years playing ET again. I miss that. Came close with Homefront, but that game has its issues.
Need to have the ability to download and run our own independent stand alone servers, ranked or whatever method is used, as it was in ET. I truly miss the old days, before all the console crap and corporate greed.

I’m just surprised they’re in alpha and haven’t released any info on their F2P model. Especially since they’re asking for cash support from the community.
I agree. This is one of the most important things, how they are gonna solve the F2P model without making it a pay to win-game
Correct me if I’m wrong, but from what I’ve heard it’s like following: You can play for free or buy yourself a pack that includes 1, 3 or 5 replacement outfits for classes. And that is it in terms of gameplay. If there is any impact, it will be visibility difference between standard outfit of the given class and it’s replacement. Seems fair enough.
I guess they will release the core game for free. And bring out mappacks / dlc.
^ That’s right. It’s not completely F2P as they have said when the game was announced. It’s some sort of Free-2-Pay-2-Play, Nah.
That’s pure speculation (but perhaps you were being sarcastic.)
Don’t you guys think it’s worth noticing that even though you buy the whooping $320 pack, you don’t get any weapon or special game changing items, but just cosmetics? Hopefully that helps in pointing towards an answer to your worries over wether or not it will be pay-2-win.
Not really. The game is still in the extreme early stages, and anything can change. Would be nice to have a solid answer from SD, how they plan to proceed. Paid for DLC, splits the community. F2P/P2W model means it will be impossible for them to release actual stand alone server that we operate, as they will lose control over the shops and wont be able to milk the cash cow.
So a solid straight forward answer is very much needed, and would be appreciated. Anything other then the ET model, is not F2P IMHO. For all the years of enjoyment I got from that game though, I gladly would have donated money.
