Is this a Copy of Enemy Territory or another Brink?

(Coverop) #1

I’m starting to thinking about it…
Is it a new Enemy Territory or just another Brink that is a failure?
From what I see the graphic is Brink, game system is like Brink , Lights is like from Brink… all what I see from Enemy Territory is Tank and Classes.

Why do you have Iron Sight in this game when It’s pretty much useless? Your gameplay video shows that spray is insta-win, so what’s the point of having Iron Sights on SMG / Shotgun / Rifles ?

It’s neither ET nor Brink, but it’s obviously inspired by former SD games. And no iron sights aren’t useless, maybe you have to get used to them first.

I’ll feed the troll.

Not sure what this post is trying to accomplish. Have you put in a lot of time with the game? Have you read the comments/threads in this forum?

I am assuming no because your questioning is neither constructive nor a legitimate critique. Saying that a game has similar graphics to another game does not justify it being like another game. Take the games Rage and Borderlands as examples. Despite the complete differences in art style, Rage and Borderlands were compared because of their distinct post-apocalyptic, barren wasteland setting. However, comparing the two games was about as useful as comparing apples and tonka trucks.

Also, if you are basing the usage of iron sights to gameplay video I would suggest you go play the game since you obviously have alpha access. Then, once you do that, come back to these forums and read some of the great things people have already suggested or commented on. Including do a search for iron sights or “ADS” and see what comes back. Finally, once you’ve accomplished those things, brainstorm some ideas you have for the game that would help further push it towards making it a successful title and write those thoughts down.

To pay at least $120, just for trolling?..I don’t know…

Seems more like a legitimate wonderrng/thinking out loud. Don’t throw trolling accusations around lightly!

By calling people trolls you’re not being any more constructive than whatever they’re saying. You’re also discouraging people to voice their first impressions no matter how blunt.

If Coverop is concerned with the way this game is going and is fearing another Brink based on these slight impressions then chances are he won’t be alone in that and that needs to be adressed.

@Coverop, it would help if you could elaborate more about your experience so far. Did you play the game already or are you basing your impression on the video?

he’s played, he also doesn’t like the animation lag with sprint, meh, doesn’t bother me. Its more ET than Brink to me

(Breo) #7

I didn’t played ET but I don’t feel like DB is Brink

(INF3RN0) #8

Looks like Brink, doesn’t play like it. I’d say it’s on its way towards accepting more of the good core elements of ET, but also offering a lot of new things; some of which are really intelligent improvements on existing past mechanics. It’s a tough game to compare to anything really, but the potential is there and hopefully it develops into something really good at the end. Some things definitely feel like they are being different/or missing just for the sake of not trying to be exactly like ET, but that’s why the ideas generated here can help it to feel more original rather than lacking in certain departments.

the maps are ET
artstyle close to brink
weapon mechanics and movement is quite unique and feels a little strange for many of us I guess

Yeah no offense to ET players but this game would be way better off with RTCW style maps, short sweet and to the point. 10-12 mins/ 2-3 objectives / doc runs/ bomb plants. Makes for way more exciting game play.
Art style is perfect the way it is.
Weapon mechanics seem to be improving, I think the sounds and feel could be improved upon.

To be fair though, what is an ET style map? Looking at the 6 stock maps made by SD, they are all very different with perhaps only goldrush and fueldump being somewhat similar in structure.

(scre4m.) #13

ET maps look quite different compaing them with each other, but DB maps are still a copy of ET maps.

not sure how long u are in alpha , but bring in some input if you think about the game like that? so you payed alpha to trashtalk the game?:s help instead of whining already
your post is really not suited to be in these alpha forums…

i never played brink so can’t talk about that. But i’m sure this game will not fail! iron sights are everywhere in modern FPS games and is usefull for long distance, small body sight of enemy and much more …

(Bloodbite) #15

The kind of map you start dreaming about when you’ve exhausted all your conscious tactical decisions.

It also helps if there is a german telling you that ze are stealing ze gold, STOP ZEM!

(iwound) #16

Looks nothing like Brink unless you took some acid.

(scre4m.) #17

lokk pretty much like brink, when one opens his eyes while playing.

(iwound) #18

please show me how it looks like brink. im really interested to know why you think that. And please be specific.

(Kl3ppy) #19

The OP came on the server, played a couple of secs then said: It doesnt look at all like ET and told that he just wasted some money…

(.Chris.) #20

Pretty sure they released some gameplay videos… He only has himself to blame if he expected something else.
