Is this a bug or a feature?

This is about the seemingly random spread of Stokers molotovs.

Why is it that in some corridors it fails to spread out properly? is that to keep from making it totally impassible, as that sucks becuase you can get past with a wall jump. or is it just a bug?

probably just buggy, I have problems with it not spreading from its point of impact on the ground, but rather in front of it

There are actual ‘physics’ behind it, learn them, understand them. Molotovs work as “intended” 9 out of 10 times. There are a few spots you should avoid, which are very likely to cause bugs in the spreading of fire, but otherwise it works just fine.

It’s a “feature”.

Working as mostly intended.

If you throw it at the wall, it’ll only make half a circle spreading out from said wall.

Molotovs are real pain in the ass. Take care that in every map, there are a lot of invisible wall, or objects with collision boxs WAAAAAAAAYYYYY larger than what you see. In the end, you molly will surely hit something and end up as a huge fail. So, as an advice, only throw them on clear wall (no dodgy wall with trees or anything you are not sure). Never throw a molly through a window with bars. Don’t bother throwing a molly in the second bomb plant in trainyard. And for the rest, just get your ass burned a couple of times and you ll learn.

This are things I wish hey would fix soon, like Kira’s laser or Arty’s Arty.

Some of the Molotov’s issues spawn in my opinion from the origin than nade bouncing problems; inconsistent geometry. Just as @Izzy stated, collision boxes are off in many places and walls that seem flat are definitely not that due nades getting stuck etc. I wouldn’t be surprised if such polygon where nade gets stuck could “eat” the molotov particles too, making it look like having never appeared.
