Is there more that can be done to prevent underage children from playing Dirty Bomb?

I think this thread is getting a little out of hand.

Ignoring the augments here and just focusing on the request, disable voice chat as @Begin2018 said, then disable text chat using @Xyfurion’s HUD editor here:

I doubt your kid or whoever will bother to reenable voice chat. Just check up on them occasionally. But even if they do, it’s not like it gets used often outside of ranked. The worst I’ve heard in 1000+ hours is someone playing Rick Ashley over mic. As for text, they won’t be able to reenable it in the game, so unless they’re really dedicated I doubt they would. And if you find they did? Just don’t let them play anymore.

I don’t think DB is really that bad though. I mean, I’ve run into some pretty nasty people, but not enough to make me concerned. But even then, I doubt most kids would get half the stuff they rant about anyways.

12 y/o is too young for my taste even tho i like em young…

This thread reminds of one game where I some girl* was throwing only bad words towards our team, yet being on the bottom of scoreboard.

*how could I know it was a kid not a girl at start, i mean… this voice :joy:

Before comments like “u complain and u r 16 y/o” - no I’m 27.

You’re crazy. I’ve got a thing for moms. Maturity is hot, dude. Get yourself a woman. Preferably one that enjoys cooking and doesn’t fancy herself as the psycho independent type.

Anyway, it’s possible to install some Parental Control on Windows to allow only some software to run. No need to add this in each game/software…

Education and discipline are the only ways we can reduce toxicity, underaged or not. My country won’t trust me with alcohol just yet, but I still try and zip it during games. Admittedly, I occasionally spam the in game chat blabbering about irrelevant stuff as if DB is an IRC chat room.

Also @GatoCommodore @Wintergreen Y’all need Jesus.

My kids have played games that are teen rated since they were 7. Only thing that i wouldnt allow was games containing nudity and sex. Before i let them play a game I made sure they understand that video games and real life are 2 different things, and things that happend in games had serious consequences, and made sure they understand what would happen if they ever tried to mimic the things they saw.

you could turn the sound off completely if you don’t feel like manually muting

ok, the next time i hear some nazi screaming “heil hitler” and “fuck blacks” at a 6yr old i’ll just tell him to turn down his volume. The world is all better now, thanks all! :#

You can’t save other people’s kids from the internet. What type of hero are you trying to be? If the parents are irresponsible enough to let their kids play online games there is nothing you can do about it.

@Eox @Kirays I don’t think anything good is going to come out of this thread. OP’s question has already been answered by a few people, but this is just turning into child ethics arguments.
Close?

Agreed. Closing.

It is worth noting that you can hide the chat, too. Enter a match, open the console (likely the tilde key ~) and then type in hudturnoff chat.
