is there anybody who would like to take care of terrain blending?

firefly, most terrain brushes are 128x128… making them bigger is like making new terrain from scratch :frowning:
i think i will use only low lod models only, as the models that i am using has quite diffrent shape with diffrent distances, so clipping would be… painfull.

i was thinking about the fog as well - i’ll test few settings one day, and see wich one looks good enough, although i’d prefer to keep it ‘clear-day’ atmosphere.

if italy is so bad… how do u explain version fp2 played - according to splatter ladder - 190002 times? compare it to maps like:

  • Paris Bastille beta3 - 187994
  • Lighthouse final - first seen Sep 14 2006 - 154207
  • TramFight! beta2 - 193874
  • MML Minas Tirith first playable3 - 227370 (does anyone remember how old this map is?)

the number of servers playing on italy just keep growing, and player are enjoying it most of the time.

That’s one way, but that would ruin the idea of an open map or trench warfare. Imo.

Nobody said that mapping is easy. But for an open map like that i truly suggest using 512x512 size (like FireFly did). And the areas closer to the trench you can fix by editing vertices. :slight_smile:

For Breakout I used differently sized tris depending on what I needed them for. Mountains were 1024 while detailed ground was 128

map hasn’t been touched for a months, althought i still have the source files somewhere.
i do still see the feature for it, as there is x-real coming for et… then i will be able to use more and more foliage and still have high fps. would be a nice ‘tech demo’ of et xreal :wink:

Your trees are nicer then my . But I have problem with PC and with new I can make better things .
Really nice project . Maybe you should make 1 for Et and 1 for X-real

Kic your trees are really cool. And I assume that the trees in this map are made by professional modellers out of the CoD developing team so no wonder why they are great. :wink:

Using assets from another game into w:et is prohibited. People that have posted assets or maps from other games in the past were banned or their posts got locked on the SplashDamage Forums…
You ‘assume’ that these trees are from Cod, that’s a harsh statement: Do you have any proof that these trees are actually from cod?
