Is there an etiquette for losing?

I have been in the situation (several times) of knowing that I am losing (badly) and only have 2-3 more turns available. I refuse to surrender. I will fight or try to occupy even though its suicide. Part of it is the 1/1000000 chance of pulling it out. Part is to get whatever coins I can. There is also a little respect to allowing the victor to get their kill shot.

Does anybody just surrender to get it over with in those cases?

There’s always times where you have to surrender/decline matches for various external reasons, but the times I don’t I usually go all out, win or lose. I always find it a bit disappointing when a game is called early by a forfeit though, even when I do win, so I try and complete as many matches as I’m allowed to, and I only surrender or decline if I know I won’t be able to devote any time for a good match.

I suicide if I’m on the verge of defeat. Don’t like dragging things out. Ain’t got time for that.

I normally play on to the conclusion of a match. I never seek to drag things out but it is normally only a couple of turns before your opponent either hunts you down or wins via T&H. I don’t mind letting them relish their kill shot.

And, as Mitsid said, sometimes they do something completely crazy and all of a sudden you are back in the game.

Speaking for myself, I don’t surrender matches. I’m need the coins to build out my barracks too much. When it does get completely hopeless, I may go out in a blaze of glory to get the match over quicker, but even then I try to inflict as much damage and/or take out a toon to shift the payout if I can. My impression is that losing after killing at least one enemy toon gets you a better percentage than losing in a take and hold, so I don’t see the point in dragging it out. And sometimes the horse learns to sing.

I’ve had at least one game where I managed to eke out a take and hold victory even though I was outnumbered with less hp. I’ve also blown games that I thought were in the bag, so the other player must have been appreciative of the fact that they played it out!

One thing that does annoy me, though, is when your opponent yields a game in the first few turns after you got a drop on them. (Like if they misplaced a toon and you managed to kill it without exposing anyone.)

I’d rather get a loser’s share of a 1500 coin pot than 100% of the few hundred coins early in the game. If someone wants to yield when the pot is above, say, 800, great! I’ll take it. I’d rather not waste my time choosing a team and setting up the opening moves for 80 coins.

Depends on my mood, I run, I go all in or I fight till the bitter end… What I do however if I win to much against someone I then start new matches where I dont care what toons I pick and what map to sorta even things out.

I do this too. If I have pasted someone a couple of times I start to throw out some experimental or fun builds and just play for giggles. Bizarrely, some of these games turn out to be more satisfying than a crushing win. Less profitable, perhaps, but usually entertaining!

YUP! Lots of fun these sorta games!

Just wanted to let you know that games will reward the person on the receiving end of an expiring match as of the next update. Yay!

Awesome news. I’m sitting on seven such games atm, all due to expire some time late today or early tomorrow. :frowning:
