Is there a way to read the game's sound files ?

I am not sure if my following request would be something allowed. So if it’s not, just tell me and I’ll request a lock to the moderation team.

For whatever reason, I need a sound sample of the Blishlok. I managed to check out where the weapon’s sound file is, however those seems to be in a .upk extension. How can I read those files ? Is it possible to convert the in a .wav extension ?

Thanks for your answers.

i hope so i want to change the headshot sound to the ET headshot

Actually the goal is not to change the game’s files. The goal is just to grab a sound clip of the Blishlok’s firing sound. Modifying the game’s files is not allowed as far as I know. I don’t want to edit them, I want to read them.

This game does need the UT sounds though

Not long ago a bunch of us looked into ripping out the sound files from the pack files and nobody was successful. There is most likely a way but I’d wager whatever tool could do it would be rather sketchy as you’re not supposed to be able to unpack these files. We actually got in touch with SD and they were able to supply us with a bunch of sound files (we wanted a lot of taunts).

I do believe quite a few sounds are now up on Soundcloud but I don’t think a Blishlock sound is. However, you could record yourself firing it with any sound recording program which would possibly take less time and would probably be near the same quality.

That’s the thing. I want it to have a quality as good as possible : this means the highest quality available (I don’t want to half-do my work), and I don’t trust my PC good enough as a recording tool. Before trying this, I want to be sure that there’s no other way.
