Is there a marketing timeline or information release window in place?

I am curious if you guys have set aside a timeline of how often you want to release information to the non-alpha public.

I am particularly anxious because of my fan site, and wanting to provide content as I think the articles relating to what DB could be in comparison to current games are becoming a bit stale.

Quite a while back badman posted that poll asking the fans what info they’d want to see next, so I was wondering if that means a video release schedule is on the horizon (not just once in a blue moon, but once every few weeks?). I guess it must be tough to say since DB is still in alpha and things change week to week.

i expect theyre making a blockbuster of a video to help promote it.
possibly showing a lot more features.
if its just another short video people will be a/ disappointed and b/ not interested.

if they are doing something special i hope they inform us on the release date of the video
so we can help promote it and create some buzz. im quite happy about helping out there.
otherwise the new video might go un-noticed by quite a few and not do its job.
let us tell others that the video is coming out before any official statement.

id like to see the video reflect some of the production styles of the ET video makers.
fighting videos of DB could be great with the right effects and maybe some shoutcast.
3rd view on ammo trajectory etc RL, nades. freeze frame rotation and other jiggery pokery.

I was expecting a new public video many weeks ago but the hold from SD on this ,I think its a good move.
There is important pieces of DB that has to be at 100% before releasing the next video .
Better wait until many core things are fixed or created and That SD will be 100% satisfied with them .
Releasing an too early video could be harmful. ,imo

I way things were going I was expecting a new video every 6-8 weeks, but it’s been around 16 since the last one.

really ? I wasn’t expecting anything public for another couple months

Any team members able to comment on this?

They should allow some real gameplay videos release to public. Those comp matches look like good candidates. http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/36302-Get-Watching-Dirty-Bomb-Showmatch-Videos

it’s a year to release, don’t show anything outside concept art, maybe an effects movie on gun sounds, that kind of stuff, no actual gameplay

(Nail) #9

when do we get splashy foot sounds in Camden, not worth playing without them

oopsie, wrong thread, no delete button

They have shown actual gameplay months ago.

A lot of games have advertised some alpha footage in the past. DB is also a pretty looking game when graphics are turned up.

Competitive games can garner a lot of interest if they show off that they are a skilled shooter with no easy mode BS.

Still too early I reckon. Too much will change from basic colour grading of maps to HUD.

Early hype is a disease in the games industry. We’re exposed to it too many time and then an unexpected delay pops up. Even though this game isn’t going to be hobbled by publisher interference, still… no point jumping in too early, too many variables can kill marketing momentum if it’s slow (one of which is the dominance of BF and CoD media saturation each year).
