I use almost when i listened some footstep, i see minimap for distinction owner of steps.
If enemy, i can’t see blue arrow.
but that is all. when i use ‘+’ or ‘-’, map alter biggest or smallest. I want control my pleasure map size.
Is the minimap useful ?
That really rare moment when I was chasing down a spotted enemy.
So the answer is no, the minimap is basically useless. And I;m okay with that, my philosophy runs against minimaps in fast games, because they slow down the pace and encourage long thought out strategies. Not inherently bad, but I don’t play slow games for a reason.
The exceptions are singleplayer and slow games.
It resets every death, so people started to put the command in the binding for swapping to melee (you press it at the start of every spawn anyhow)
In your ShooterInput.ini file you’ll see a line for the melee binding:
“SelectWeaponSlot WS_Melee”
add hudTurnOff Minimap to the line, so it reads:
“SelectWeaponSlot WS_Melee | hudTurnOff Minimap”
You need the | btw, it’s a ‘pipe’, normally lower left on your keyboard.
Save - exit. Set the file as read-only.
You’re done
Also, if you just want to try it in game then just open the console and type hudTurnOff Minimap

I can vouch for this, I’ve been using it for quite awhile and I have noticed my fps increases slightly.

There are 2 Lines for “SelectWeaponSlot WS_Melee” in the ShooterInput.ini. Do i have to set both?
There are many uses for it:
-Checking where detected enemies are on the map
-Checking where allies are, when playing as a medic to see where revives are needed and to ensure flanks are covered, etc.
-Checking more precise location of a carryable objective
-To determine if I’m being followed by allies when using a faster merc without having to turn around. Let’s me know if I need to slow down or not.
-To distinguishes hear footsteps if they’re from allies or enemies.
- and finally especially in execution to determine where allies are heading out
