True, but there’s a rhythm to the way the Euston bobs about the target at range that is quite easy to slip into. At first it seems very random, but you can control it and predict it enough to keep the accuracy high.
I can see what you mean from a general perspective, though, and I think most players will find the Gerund easier to deal with, but I do insist that the Euston has a little more potential if you keep at it.
Playing against the Hard bots, and playing as a Light character, all the ARs seem to be pretty effective, but if I can close the gap fast enough (preferably before they start shooting), I can tear the Mediums apart with SMG fire.
If I don’t get close in time, my shots will be struggling to hit, while they can rip me apart with a few controlled bursts. The few times I’ve seen the AI open up on full-auto, though, they were only really effective as a deterrent, rather than an attempt at real damage.
imo the rhett is the strongest in close range, maybe even stronger than the carb. The euston is basically a longer range carb that doesn’t shine as it does in close range.
playing bots =/= playing against good people.
Right now carb9 is king with the drum mag. You can drop 3 people and swap to a mp and drop another 2 people. Thats an entire competitive team in 2 weapons as light, and trust me I’ve done it more than once in the same map against a team as an op with engi buff2. The carb9 can still melt people at range and I’ve never had a problem outshooting any rifle at mid range and close range. Anyone that sacrifices movement/speed which allows you to dodge opponent’s shots for a rifle that barely keeps up is “doing it wrong” as the meme goes.
Carb9 has high damage, high rate of fire, consistant accuracy without any need to ADS. There is no gun that can compete with it when it has the right mods.
The Gerund isn’t as good as people make it out to be. You are generally forced to ADS 3 shot burst and you become a sitting duck for opponents. Even without ads, you will always be forced to control your rate of fire and therefor put out far less damage per second than a carb9.
The only selling points of ARs are their ability to have grenade launchers on them which essentially 1 hit people who have 2 pips or less with a direct hit or deal massive damage and knock them down. If you aren’t using ARs for this reason then you shouldn’t be using an AR at all. You will nearly always lose to a good player with a carb9 at any range, if you think otherwise then you haven’t played a good player yet.
my favorite assault rifle so far is is definitely the rokstedi with a COGA scope grip, and rapid fire. more effective for long range fighting imho. hart to get used to but just calm down and fire for the head. also, hip firing is very effective for an AR.
You’re right about the bots.
Unfortunately, being on PS3, I don’t have the luxury of playing against humans.
Sorry.
Could say the exact same thing to you. You probably haven’t come across a player who’s set up their AR well /and/ knows how to control it. The bounce on an AR is tricky, but find a rhythm with it and its deadly as hell.
I have no trouble on close ranges against SMG’s with any of the assault rifles i use.
You can use the AR’s like an smg exept you just have to be a little more accurate since the rate of fire is lower.
