I have been using him for 3 months and Im doing well but peopls still tell me that Sawbones is better.

Sawbones is a better medic, his medpacks can fully heal anyone and can be left in cover for people when they need them. Pheonix while great in the heat of battle isnt really great for sustaining a team through a long firefight. In short pheonix is marginally better for making a push against the enemy but has trouble keeping a defence healed where as sawbones is damn good for both of those situations.

Phoenix is a more of a aggressive medic compared to the other medics in the game, although his healing abilities don’t work great on teammates, it can help you in certain types of situations, so no he is not bad, as it depends on your certain playstyle. Sparks for example is a medic that is suppose to stay back from enemy fire and revive teammates from a distance, unless if you want to go up to the enemies face and blast it with your Revivr. Sawbonez is sort of in between Phoenix and Sparks, go on offence time to time but also make sure to stay back and heal your teammates. Also if your team is getting pinned and you have a rhino on your team, be their pocket medic and it should eliminate spawn campers.

Get to a good place. It’s the same with snipers, fire support, assault classes, and engineers. If you like engineers or fire support enough to figure out new purposes for both, you’ll like Phoenix. Just use your brain.

“It takes a lot to keep me down.”
-Competent Phoenix on defense.

Get it right and the only way the enemy could kill you is if they waste an airstrike on you. But it’s hard to find a good place when a push is needed, so in that situation the recommended course of action is to maximize your healing pulses.

My recommended maps for Phoenix are:
Dome (second part)
Chapel (last part)
Terminal (first part, even on offense there’s a niche shortcut)
Underground (first part while defending a bomb, last part when attackers are controlling the barriers or near the bomb)

I don’t recommend him on Trainyard or Bridge. Use Sparks, Aura, or Sawbonez. And other medics could do equally well on the recommended maps too, it’s just that if it’s your play style, play him on those maps.

Oh, and keep your cool. Losing it could mean losing the game.
