is phantom worth it?

(hippie) #1

ok so i’m a really bad player (i camp most of the time) but watching other people play phantom seems like fun… should i just save up and buy phantom? or should i go for stoker or fletcher?

fletcher

(Thefurryfox64) #3

stoker every time. the Molotovs are really helpful for clearing out rooms.

If you’re wanting to use his entire kit and use his guns primarily then he’s fine for pubbing. If you’re wanting to be a melee only Phantom then you’re going to have problems regardless of your skill level because he’s not a melee character. He just has a re-skinned cricket bat.

Fletcher, no doubt !

For bad/newer/inexperienced players I would suggest Stoker. He will give you a better feel for for the game as well as make you more XP with his abilities. He has a good gun selection, isn’t too fast or to slow, and has a decent amount of health. He will earn you good support XP with his ammo station and his Molotov is good at area denial, damaging the EV, and killing in certain circumstances. He is also good on a high level so he will still be a viable merc as you progress.

Fletcher is an objective class that can give you a lot of XP but his play style isn’t for everyone and would probably be better to try once you get more accustomed to the game.

Phantom is a no go right now. He needs time to do some soul searching and figure out what kind of merc he wants to be. Seriously though, he’s just not worth the credits in his current state.

Stoker is really easy to play, id suggest him, phantom seems easy but hes very much for players who mastered the game. IE needing to long jump, learn to melee, when to time cloaks

Get Nader, she’s amazing

i have all the mercs except phantom, stoker, fletcher and rhino

Definitely not worth the 50,000 credits if you’re planning on running around like a headless chicken with the Katana.

If you’re actually planning on using everything Phantom has in his loadouts, get him.

@darlingClaymore You make it sound as if learning how to long jump and melee is hard. You certainly haven’t mastered the game if your most effective weapon is an elongated knife.

@darlingClaymore Exactly what was in my post to disagree with? He’s fine in pubs if you use his whole kit and don’t limit yourself to just trying to melee. He has issues in more organized matches due to less going on to cover up movement/sounds from the armor, players typically know how to defeat him a bit easier and he has no secondary utility that makes him worth bringing.

I think most people prefer to know what a person disagrees with when they press the disagree button

Its not a reskinned cricket bat, its the best melee weapon in game. That’s what I disagree with, katana has more range and damage.

Using the sword is fun, don’t see why you think its like a headless chicken. Of course you don’t want to use it every single second but its much more fun.

It’s like a headless chicken because it requires the intelligence of one to do. All you’re doing is RMB/LMB every time someone marks your crosshair. How do you find something so unchallenging fun? Even worse, as unchallenging as it is, it’s still nowhere near as effective as actually using your gun.

Responding with that information is better than hitting a disagree button then  And I know they have differences but they are very minor and not really of note when talking about how good or bad Phantom is overall. My comment about the Katana was stated with the context of it being just another melee weapon that is similar to the cricket bat. The difference between a katana and a cricket bat does not make or break Phantom.
