Is Online Play Region Locked?

(Kbrury) #1

First of all I’m sorry if this has been asked many times, I couldn’t find much when I was searching. I just wanted to know if I could play online with friends in Europe for the PC. Thank you for your time.

(Nail) #2

yes, you can

(Crytiqal) #3

Are there online MPs with dedicated servers where you can’t?

(LyndonL) #4

Wasn’t SC2 region locked (initially at least?) Or WOW?

(EcafNoGav) #5

Let’s hope so on consoles.

(DarkangelUK) #6

Not sure about specific region locked, but a few allow server admins to set a max ping limit which effectively gives the same result.

SC2 and Wow do not use user dedicated servers.

Will there be dedicated servers in Australia for Brink do you think?(on pc)
That seems to be the only location that i get a ping time if less than 100 ms.

(Seyu) #9

Or in Asia?

I’ll certainly put up a dedicated server in Melbourne  Not sure how many people I will limit to yet since our upspeed isn’t that great. I host L4D Vs no problems with 8 people but another 8 might be a challenge. When I move houses with FTTH I’ll be able to host 16 players no probs.

Other than me, I’m sure there’ll be lots of user bought dedi servers.

On PC with dedicated servers… definetly not. I mean there is no confirmation, but I yeah - they wouldn’t do that.

(system) #12

To answer your question. Since Brink does not use a service like Battle.net (and doesn’t need one) why would a region lock be necessary?

(Striker92) #13

Servers in Australia FTW. i think most of the remaining ETQW aussie players, as well as some old ones, will move to brink, and i think the <3shack might be hosting a brink server (sydney based). but if not ill probably spend a fair amount of time on Lyndonl’s Server

Thank you  . There is really only one wolfenstein et server i can connect to called AU NO DOWNLOAD or something. I still get about 70 ping. So if you play in that server i pity you.
