Is Nexon going to leave for Lawbreakers?

(Venator) #1

I am kinda worried with the anticipation of lawbreakers, and the larger potential player base that Nexon will ditch dirty bomb. Lawbreakers does look like fun, but dirty bomb is too awesome to leave.

(Jostabeere) #2

How is Nexon, a publisher, supposed to make people leave from a free game to another, that cost money?

(bontsa) #3

But Nexon publishes multiple titles you’know? Its not like Maplestory or even Combat Arms (that could be forgotten though, hah) were ditched for DirtyBomb

(SteelMailbox) #4

They are publishers mostly what they do is throw money around for the devs, money they get from games like LawBreakers Combat Arms etc.
For them to ditch this game it has to just not be profitable and currently when we have players like @Sniff I am pretty sure that time won’t come soon.

Nexon is a publisher with many games. They currently have 3 FPS games in development and at least 2 others already released that are still active. In addition they have a number of other game genres that they are active in, both development and release.

While I agree it makes it tougher when they compete for their existing playerbase, all of their games are different enough or have their own niche. I don’t see any reason why they won’t continue to support all of their current projects.

If they give full rights to Splash Damage, I fail to see how it’s a bad thing.

Completely different sub-genre of FPS so LB most likely won’t be stealing a huge pool of players from DB. Also, DB is f2p which attracts a different crowd as well pretty often where LB is paid. And Nexon is a publisher who has always been the backer for multiple titles. Also, DB’s population is pretty huge. Unique numbers have DB in between 180,000 and 300,000 players (per 2 weeks) depending on what events are going on. Sure, that’s not CSGO/league/dota big but what else is? If a game isn’t the same size as CSGO doesn’t make it unprofitable for a developer or a failure.

Probably not but I was surprised when I saw “MissMurder” at the PAX East there though.

so, how about Overwatch, the fact that this game did steal many players from DB.
Also more about balance issue + more maps (I heard the plan to full release is fix balance issue and relaese more maps)

BTW, hacker isn’t really a probelm here since it is really rare, yes they are exist, but really rare.

(Ardez1) #19

Yeah, DB is really feeling the burn.

Hurts so hard that we actually had more people playing during peak hours. This doesn’t say anything about overall players(Non-peak hours players).

And while yes, certainly people did leave to player overwatch, a number of them will play both and some may even decide they don’t like overwatch as much. Not to mention DB is free. Anybody who doesn’t want to pay but still wants to play a decent shooter might be showing up.

(doxjq) #20

Lol wtf Alpha. Balance issues? Have you even played Overwatch? xD

If Dirty Bomb has bad balance issues I don’t even know what to say about Overwatch.

Sure some players will leave the game, but I think there are more who plan on playing both, and of those people playing both that I personally know, more than half of them are saying Dirty Bomb is way more enjoyable and that they will probably main Dirty Bomb again once the OW hype dies down.
