Is it too late for Brink?

(Stormchild) #21

Triple A ? Really ? You think Brink got the same kind of budget than CoD or BattleField ? I highly doubt it…

Although maybe they advertised like a AAA game…

Coming to the game only just recently I didn’t experience any of the problems people had at launch - All I see is a really great game that’s a bit slim on environment content (PC btw).

Maybe once AoC has gone live, assuming it’s all good/stable etc, a Steam free trial weekend (as was done recently with CoD BO) might be a good way to get new players to try it + a reminder to those that’d given up due to technical issues to give it another blast?

Just a thought anyway.

Triple A is a nonsense marketing term. There’s no concrete definition behind it. All it ends up meaning is the publisher thinks they’ll make a lot of money on it.

There is no budget threshhold defining it, there are no standards or checklists or quality control to conform to and there is no tangible metric to rate games against.

Basically you put yourself in the AAA field by pricing your game at the appropriate price and advertising yourself as a AAA game.

“AAA, or Triple-A, may be a three-letter acronym or may just mean something that is high-quality, premier, or excellent.” according to wikipedia.

Never listen to advertising. They like to make up words that sound good because they want your money. Next they’ll be trying to sell us “hyper quadruple-A plus-plus” games.

My 2 Cents:

The reason things are th way they are now is because of a rushed release date. Developers, especially SD with a very good curriculum should NEVER agree to any Release Date. It’s Ready When It’s Ready! That’s the only time it will be without issues.

He is actually right, just before the game came out badman had made a comment on the new title they are working on. He said it’s going to be green…do not ask me what that means but thats what he said.

They can’t release DLC on time.

Its ready when its ready would’ve meant another 10 years in dev.

SD is the new Silicon Knights.

MAG fixed itself with 2.0, and maybe this DLC will fix a lot.

This does prove they were trying, and these new balance sweeps may help them a lot.

But will it ever be 10,000 people again? No.

maybe try to get as many people back with DLC as possible, then in a few months go free to play? micro transactions for skins etc?

(OnceWasGreat) #34

To OP: yes, too late for sure.

An A is just an H with a closed top. Besides: they’re all letters anyway, what’s the big deal?
