Is it possible to go back to the old UI?

(Sorotia) #1

I ask because it was so much easier to keep a eye on people as a Medic. Especially the way it displays health…sometimes it shows them as having health even though they’re downed.

If not that can I make the team bar display bigger?

(Floross) #2

Recently on the stream they said it’ll be a toggle.

(Sorotia) #3

Okay, thanks!

(TheVulpesFox) #4

You mean the one before the most recent update?

(Jostabeere) #5

I still don’t understand what people mean. I play Aura as one of my mains, and I don’t understand, why people have a problem, and with which thing exactly. Can someone elaborate?

With the old UI, your whole team was displayed on the left with:

“Merc pic” “player name”
“health bar”

Now its just up the top with:

“merc pic”
“tiny health bar”

He’s just saying that it was easier to see what health everyone’s on with the old HUD UI because it’s bigger and shows a nicely sized health bar instead of a tiny one.

I didn’t use those parts of the UI myself but I am not sure why they were changed. It looks like it was changed because somebody thought it looked more aesthetically pleasing and minimalist as opposed to being functional though for those who did use it. It looks more like it should be used for people spectating rather than players playing.

This pretty much…it’s just so small and off to the top…hard to notice in gunfire…and I don’t know if it’s a bug or a feature which shows you how much damage one can take before they’re gibbed…but this happens and if I glance up looking at health, someone may be down and need a revive but I think they still have health.

I have to look up and pay attention to the bar to see if they’re red/incapped…

Plus Aura is a little easier to play…drop a health station and bam (:p)…I’ve been playing Phoenix a lot myself…not saying it’s impossible and demanding the devs revert it or anything…just a quality of life thing that would make my job a little easier.

I just prefer it the old way…

I really like the new UI.

It’s small, concise, allows you to see the status of the enemy team, and doesn’t take up your left screen. Some people don’t like it because the health bars are too small and your name doesn’t appear.

It allows me to be more tactical and strategic without needing to harassing my teammates.

Before the update I had to constantly hit the tab to see if the enemy merc was dead, but now I can see in the top.

I don’t care for it either. I main a medic and it’s hard for me to keep track of the tiny health bars at the top. Granted, I didn’t like it much before either because it took up too much space.

Maybe instead, medics could see overhead health bars of players in-game at all times. Something small under the teammate names so it’s easy to keep track of at all times. Idk. I wouldn’t mind this myself.

(kibloy) #11

I wouldn’t mind it so much if the info displayed wasn’t wrong. Half the time it shows mercs which aren’t even on my team, absolutely irritating.
Now I end up having to bring up the scoreboard anyway.

I’m confused by this. Do you not have player healthbars always seen on your UI under them? I can always see player healthbars through walls of all my teammates so I’m confused why even looking at the health indicator at the top of the screen would be valuable. And I’m confused why you’d ask for something that is already there. Unless there is some toggle that is off on your UI but on for mine?

Does your UI show healthbars/low HP/revive needs like mine?

(BerylRdm) #13

I know I may be repeating myself, but I still don’t understand why devs won’t let players choose how they want their HUDs to look like. This thread alone proves that we need this. Even ET itself (release date 2003!) offered better customization, not to mention ET Pro.

(kibloy) #14

I think they mentioned on stream that they plan on implementing a toggle option, but don’t quote me on that.

Lmao oh boy. I’m sorry. Sarcasm/snark doesn’t work in text all the time.
OT but, you look so solid in the vid. I never see you in pubs though, maybe a few times? Wouldn’t mind going against you again at some point.

Hah! Yeah your sentence, when not read in a snarky tone, sounds like you actually didn’t see health bars. And I am pretty sure there is a UI option to turn them off. I honestly don’t know why people even need the portraits/hp bars at all as a medic.

I was in a pub with you and @merciless not long ago. Right before the jump sniper changes IIRC. One of you was trying to kill themselves constantly or something for some reason in the first match that i joined late on. It was pretty funny which is why I didn’t cut it out of the vid like I normally would have.

-edit-

Oh, found a vid of it actually. I forgot I had this.

(Sinee) #17

LOL Omg! We had no idea you put that up, how funny! Yeah yeah… @Merciless was having a small mental breakdown that day! Nothing out of the ordinary.
I’ll pass it along once he’s up from his nap, I’m sure he’ll get a kick out of there being video evidence.

So I guess I should ask that all of my team mates remain in my field of view 24/7…you know so I can watch the health bars above their heads? If I turn to the right then they have all all turn with me! I guess if they can’t hack through walls so I can see them if I turn around…they’re flat out screwed!

I was just messing around and killing myself because sometimes Mercy drives me crazy.
