Is it just me or has there been an increase in hitreg delay

(Ghosthree3) #1

For a little while now - maybe the most recent patch, maybe 2, dunno - I’ve noticed that the time it takes for the server to confirm damage is much longer than it used to be. It’s especially noticeable if it’s my last bullet that gets the kill, I fire until I run out, then I’m almost half way through the reload animation when they drop dead. All on 20 ping. Really noticeable when I stop firing because I think they’re dead and they drop dead well after I stop shooting too.

Yep, me too.
I shoot a man he is low and runs away a second later I killed him…

Same happened to me!

(XavienX) #4

Mostly it’s just sniper rifles. It’s horrifying.

(Amerika) #5

It seems pretty normal to me. Is what you see here the same thing you see or do you get something different?

(MercifuL) #6

Yeah i find that it is mostly sniper rifles.

(1AGRESSOR) #7

so its not just me THAN GOD

i am saying that for a past 3 days cant kill anyone lol

i mean i can get kills but much harder than before update and my k/d ratio is since much much worse

i don’t play with Vasili i have hitreg issue with all my mercs like i am playing with 300+ ping and its actually 40-65

It definitely wasn’t an issue before the Phoenix patch with Vassili. I haven’t played him since Phoenix hit though. I can do that later tonight and record and see what’s up.

Or Onyxia could be Deep Breathing more this patch. That’s always possible. (that will never get old for me).

(MarsRover) #9

From the patch that has lowered server load I’ve seen a whole lot more situations where I kill a guy and simultaneously he kills me. I may just be me getting better, but it pretty much never happened before that update.

(strawberryJacket) #10

The hit reg issues are here since fletcher patch but not everyone is affected for some reason. The worse thing about it is the fact that it seems random, so it can work for one day and be totally horrible in another, inconsistency at it best.

It saddens me that SD decided to go with client side hit detection but i at least hope that we can go back to kira patch hit detection, it was great back then without all the server lags that we get now ;(.

OK, so I went and played Vassili earlier for the first time since Phoenix hit. It was business as usual. No delay in hit registration or kill messages. I had one shot that was definitely on target though, seen at the 50 second mark, that did not connect.

However, I didn’t see which Nader it was I “missed” but one of the defending team’s Nader players was warping quite a bit and had severe ping fluctuations. So I assume it was him that I didn’t hit. And I finished that map and played another map after that as Vassili with shot registration feeling like normal.

So it seems fine to me as you can see from the video. @Ghosthree3, do you get something different? Or can you make a quick video of it?

(Jurmabones) #12

Whenever I have a harder time landing shots it’s normally because of laggy/high ping enemy players. Can’t say I feel like hit registration has been particularly off lately.

(Ghosthree3) #13

@Amerika Both your videos seem fine, I didn’t watch all of them, just a couple of kills. It’s actually not really noticeable with snipers for me, it’s automatic weapons. Assuming I know which bullet will confirm the kill on my target I can literally stop firing and switch weapons entirely to see them drop dead after my new weapon is out really frequently. I’ll make a video next time I play.

Also like someone said, the occurrence of killing each other has gone up - killing someone and dying to them at the same time - a LOT.

Eh, that just happens from time to time. I actually haven’t had it happen to me in weeks.

(Ghosthree3) #15

Maybe Aus servers are just shit, wouldn’t be the first time.

(Amerika) #16

That’s actually what I was wondering. You guys would be on completely different hardware than we are so we might not have an issue where you might. If you can get a video of it then it would go a long way towards getting it looked into.

(CCP115) #17

I also play on AU servers, and I haven’t experienced anything of the sort.

Sniping was responsive and instant, and kills were pretty legit with automatics as well.

I also haven’t experienced a simultaneous death and kill for a month, excluding the one that happens yesterday.

(B_Montiel) #18

I dunno if it’s related, but, especially yesterday when I played Vassili and shotgun proxy for fun, I felt like doing a couple of literal abusive hits I never experienced before. I’m turning shadowplay on again if it might happen again I’ll upload the footage.

(Ghosthree3) #19

Ugh, been recording a few games today, got a few instances of it. But this one time I don’t record I get the biggest most obvious one ever.

(Ghosthree3) #20

@Amerika Ok there is a chance it’s at my end, because I just tried playing Quake Live - yay beta key - and I was bouncing from 60 to 130 on a somewhat far server so tried pinging google and it’s unpredictable as fuck and dropping like 3% of the packets. Dunno if it was extremely bad luck or I’ve been getting packet loss a while now, ping in DB has been steady as a rock though.

EDIT: Yeah I’m not sold on this idea, this issue has been happening to me for weeks and I’ve never had problems like I’m having tonight so yeah, unrelated bad timing I believe.
