Is it a bug or a feature?

I play as medic a lot of the time and noticed some strange behaviour of the buffing mechanics.
Very often when I run towards a downed teammate to revive him, the game seems to think it’s more important to health-buff some guy who is standing in front of the guy i want to revive, resulting in me running out of cover, buffing someone who isn’t even that low on health, leaving my dying mate to rot on the ground and often enough going down myself in the act of doing so.

It seems this is intended behaviour, as I don’t even have to look in the direction of my still fighting teammate to trigger this. So in addition to me not reviving the downed guy I often get turned around, leaving me completely disoriented and standing there with my d**k, erm syringe in my hand, staring at the enemy like a deer at the headlights of a car.

Can we please, please have an option to turn this off on PC, or at least change the behaviour of it, so the emphasis lies on reviving downed teammates instead of buffing someone who doesn’t even need it.

Better yet, give us the option to assign separate keys for reviving and buffing, we have over 100 of them on our keyboards, as I’m sure you remember.

It’s neither, it’s bad design. This whole 1 button for everything was made for consoles and it’s obvious its a failure. I seriously suspect they didn’t even fully test it after seeing everything else that went wrong in this game. They should have kept the old system. You cant even res people sometimes if they’re in the corner. You have to wait an extra second or 2 just for them to even become highlighted.

This so called “streamlining” is a bloody mess. I know this isn’t supposed to be the new ET but you shouldn’t change what already works. Even Bad Company 2 kept the system the same. But I guess consoles are to blame for this. I remember seeing early Brink footage and they had whatever consumable in their hands to be thrown as supplies like the old system. I wonder why they decided to axe it.

I just need revive and buffing on a different key! >.<

It’s driving me crazy SD and it’s so easy to change i bet.

Well it give the game a bit of character it is annoying but you’ve got to laugh.

Nice, maybe they decided that the PC gamers are getting that old that they needed to make the game more simple for them.

See i can play to stereotypes too.

Personally i like the 1 button does all feature, it just needs to have a ‘preference’ feature put in.

I think the one button does all model works the majority of the time but in instances like this it fails.

Dare I say it with out looking at the code that an easy fix would be to have revive or buff bound to a weapon slot like when you use a special ability, then you know as a player which one you want to be doing.

I dont like the auto-follow feature, an instant button click to do the action would work way better. Is it so hard to run at a teammate with w, so we need the game to guide us to (very often wrong) the person we want to buff/revive?

Hold to buff
