Is Brink For Me?

Let me just start by saying “Enemy Territory: Quake Wars” and “Elder Scrolls: Oblivion” are two of the best games I’ve ever played. I know Quake Wars had a load of mixed reviews and wasn’t really that popular but I absolutely loved it.

The reason I bring these two games up is because SplashDamage brought us Quake Wars & Bethesda brought us Oblivion. I’m not 100% sure that Bethesda has anything to do with Brink, although I’ve heard they’re involved which can only be a good thing “IMO”. Now I hadn’t really heard a lot about Brink but as soon as I realised these 2 companies were involved I gained a lot of interest in it.

I’ve been looking for a long time for a good Xbox 360 FPS to play online and therefore I purchased Crysis 2. I never really liked Black Ops etc as I found it far too “run & gun/fast paced”. It seemed people would just run blindly around the map without a care in the World getting kill after kill, and I just couldn’t keep up. That’s not a fault of the game though, that’s just not my playing style and I couldn’t get used to it.

I got Crysis 2 thinking it was going to be different, but the pace of the game seems EXACTLY like Black Ops. From what I played it seems to be pretty much Black Ops with Stealth & Armour added. The gameplay was just like Black Ops I thought, although some people will disagree & that’s fine.

So now I’m thinking “Should I hand in Crysis 2 & pre-order Brink?”. How do you guys predict the lastability will be of Brink? That’s one thing I always worry about. I hate getting into a game only to find it die out a few weeks down the line.

I’ll await your responses, thanks guys.

I think Brink is going to be just as fun as you found ET QW to be. Probably even more so. Brink looks like it’s going to be the next evolution of Enemy Territory. It uses the same engine as Quakewars did, and is made by the same people who made Quakewars.

Ah cool, that sounds perfect. I loved the different game modes of Quake Wars and was surprised it didn’t really get that popular. I didn’t see anything wrong with the game and it just seemed to die out really quickly

well part of the problem with etqw was lack of promotion, and the other part was being overshadowed by several other big name games coming out at the same time. I remember seeing about 8 call of duty commercials for every 1 commercial that featured ETQW, and the one that I remember was a gamestop commercial that didn’t mention ETQW.

Odd, these are the two games my brother plays also

Yes

If you wish

Dude if you like Quake Wars then there’s no reason to skip on Brink.

And well yeah SD can be really glad about that Activision conflict or we would be looking at a MW3 being released right about now.

I really enjoyed ETQW, and I’m hoping Brink provides more of the same + improvements wherever possible  I have faith in SD, because their idea of a team-based objective FPS is far in advance of everyone else’s - IMO that is

Also yeah, trade in Crysis 2 - it’s really not a great game. Incredible engine, no argument, but - crap story, crap voice acting, crap combat, buggy in various places, decent and mostly fun stealth mechanics  lol. Really, Crytek should stick to engines, and leave the stuff that requires imagination to those who actually possess it. It plays like a terrible, low-budget hollywood war movie - but it looks like Avatar on some kind of MAX mode. I wish I hadn’t bought it
