rermove ironsight.et havent , cs havent, quake havent.they all still played competitve games and they all havent ironsight.from my point of view ironsight slows games down , reaction should be the way to win not camp in ironsight and have an advantage(Cod , BF).i must say i dont use it in DB already ,i wonder is it really more accurate?

Agree with all Samu’s points. Especially regarding soldier MG iron sights.

Sniper should get on contrary a hip fire boost for combat in close quarters unscoped.

The initial zoom level, in addition to deagle, imho should be increased for SMGs too like engie’s and covops secondaries.

IS for medium/long range, hipfire for close/medium range, mostly spray and pray :smiley:

yeah, out of habit from other fps games I went to ironsights to take a long range shot and found it didn’t help in the slightest. I found myself having to fight the intinct to use it because it just isn’t practical as of yet apparently.

Surely there has to be a trade off between restricted movement and vision (when using ironsights) with greater accuracy and easier handling… otherwise there is no point in their existence in this game (which i am also fine with as long as hip spraying gets more accurate).

That’s the issue. Iron sights and fast moving hip firing games just don’t mix. For iron sights to be viable hip firing has to be limited in its effectiveness and we end up with spread that isn’t fun or just plain unmanageable.

i like the idea of ironsights but when i use them, especially noticeable when using soldier is the amount of recoil in IR.
which makes it harder to use than normal. so i just go back.
i keep trying to use it then remember oh this doesn’t work, back to plan A.

Now for my subjective opinion:
The Ironsight Firing-Mode feels very good controlable.
Its nearly perfecly vertical, with slight random kickoffs to the side, very similar to Black Ops 2.
We should keep the recoil the way it is.
The weapons are already very accurate without zooming in, so if you are good with the ironsight recoil-control,
you get a good advantage over players who cannot control the recoil.
So new players still have a chance, while better players really get rewarded for their effort. Higher skill ceiling etc.

my current gut-feel is that i dont see that dramatic an improvement that offsets the movement and sight restriction of IS - part of that at least is down to the game having a relatively high movement speed, coupled with low dmg weapons. Much easier to track with hipfire - which is actually a core element of the game i want retained. So like a lot of things I see IS as a nice to have that as a bolt on could end up hurting the core mechanic in order for it to differentiate itself enough to be of use.

I’m not sure if I should post it here but it also counts for iron sights for some weapons.

  • Medic primary weapon: is balanced compared to other classes
  • Engineer shotgun: decrease RoF
  • Soldier primary weapon: decrease RoF, increase recoil
  • Field ops primary weapon: reduce damage
  • Recon primary weapon: reduce damage (body)

These suggestion are not huge changes only small adjustments of the values.

Maybe we could reduce the random horizontal recoil and instead increase the vertical?
