IP addy bans instead of account bans...

I’m just curious if this is even possible?

Not that I encounter hackers often but recently just encountered a clear hacker…was getting all headshots and even using that auto kill mod to kill a whole team at once. (Team didn’t boot him, no surprise)

But I looked at his steam account…it was level 0…obviously brand new, so I think it’s pretty obvious he was banned for hacking and just took up a new Steam account.

I don’t know a lot about this or if it’s even possible…I’m sorta just curious…because I imagine when he gets banned again he will just make another dummy account.

IP’s change

I think accounts which have not confirmed their account (by spending 5 euros or such which unlocks your account) should not be able to play f2p games anyways, because most of the cases these accounts are just made to cheat or some other doubtful purposes.

This wouldn’t make the problem disappear most likely, but at least it would be something.

IP’s can be changed by restarting your router/modem if your ISP puts you into a dynamic pool of leased IP’s, this could catch the 1% that are on a static IP address, but then the 1% could easily spoof/misdirect/mask there IP by a number of simple methods…

Hardware ID bans would be a slightly better idea but still easily spoofed for ones with the know-how.

Basically, Welcome to the internet, where if one method fails, 100 workarounds will pop up within moments xD.

Wouldn’t achieve anything as one could always get a new IP or go through a VPN and could be a problem if a hacker was playing through a public IP via VPN.

No matter what you do if someone is willing to hack then they are willing to get around bans. Well I suppose you could physically round them up and eliminate them from the gene pool.

Then they won’t be F2P in a way, and TF2 is f2p, and have 0 hackers, so is problem of the NGS anticheat

I see…thought I’d ask.

Just was so blatantly cheating…guess will hope I don’t run into that loser again.

TF 2 has plenty of cheaters

Just report in-game and on the player’s steam account and move on, if you happen to catch footage and you have the energy you can file a report on the nexon support website

Aside from that there is nothing more you can really do, luckily there doesn’t seem to be a major cheating problem in this game, at least from my experience. Which is astonishing to me as Free-to-Play games and Low Populated games normally attract this kind of tom foolery, and Dirty Bomb ticks both those boxes, if they keep the events and content coming though I hope that the latter wont apply anymore, as I notice more and more players coming in if steamcharts is anything to go from ; )

(Sorotia) #10

I guess it’s sorta salt in the wound a little because he was by far the most blatant cheater I have ever seen and his team just rode him to victory with no shame at all…times like that wish his team could get a infraction as well.

There is definitely a new bot going around right now for the holidays. We went the last few months without much of a whiff of cheaters on the servers pretty much anywhere and now that a lot of people are on holiday a new bot appears. I’m sure it will get dealt with pretty soon. I saw one aimbot today but he won’t be around much longer. Luckily the time it takes to report and then have them banned, if they are actually cheating, is pretty fast.

TF2 is f2p, and have 0 hackers[/quote]

What’s the deal with TF2? I play it for 3 years, and saw a cheater once.

(jungle_gnz) #14

player on today - Aus server - name: SUNGAM3D
Hacking like a dick - heatshot kills, 1 shot, snaps to player when watching, even admitted he created the hack. Private profile steam account - All should be barred from playing the game as they seem to be hiding something(s)

Honestly, hackers that keep coming back usually isn’t a games fault.
One idea that I have had was limiting who can play free-to-play games was a action that steam could do…
Make people have at least x steam level to play a free-to-play game.
This would decrease the amount of cheaters for free-to-play games, not just Dirty Bomb.
We know how easy it is to make a Steam Account, and how Steam itself is free to begin with.
No duplicate accounts could be made on the spot, IP bans would be unnecessary and somewhat overkill if it were a reality.
