Good morning.

In my effort to provide a way of controling spawnkilling with various mass-killing weapons
i have made a mod that goes by the name of etsk. Thanks to people who spent time
chasing done every bug they could, the mod is now runing by the version 1.0.5 which should be the lastest version for a long time.

That said, a nice person did make me a favor by running a server using the etsk mod.
I would like to invite all interested players to try out this server, althought i am aware
this is not like playing on an ETPro or a shrub server. I tried to reduce this annoyance by
adding the most common ‘must-have’ features you are used to: xp save, taunt,
hit-sounds, light weapon skill -modificators corrections, allied covop/eng garand
reloadable even if ammo clip is not empty etc.

The server IP is : 193.27.10.7:27965 (you can wait for the server to show up in the
play-online menu but it usually takes time since there is only one server running this
mod). It is running in pure mode and have punkbuster enabled.

You will need the mod beeing properly installed on your computer like for etpro and shrub
mod. It can be downloaded here:

If you are new with mods installation there is a readme.txt file in the pk3.
If you are interested in creating you own sk areas with the ingame editor you can
have a look at the editor manual also contained in the pk3. Dont worry about sk files
versions, support for file conversions will always be provided should the need arise.

Always having in mind to preserve a good and serious gameplay i have included a few secondary features through the very first versions of the mod. Here are some of them
for those who arent familliar with the etsk mod ( well…almost everybody ):

  • Possibility to vote/refcon the anti-selfkill and the anti-spawnkill system.
  • Classes aptitudes grow in a linear manner (eg: 35% light weapons accuracy bonus
    divided into the 4 light weap. skill levels ).
  • initial etmain light weapon mid/far range damage bug fixed and many others.

Should this experience be succesfull over the next months i may continue to work on this mod and add some reasonable ideas i kept in mind for a few weeks now like:

  • Tactic balloons to show your teammates what is your intention (eg: icon saying jump on
    my shoulders to reach a higher place) to ease tactics communication.
  • Defensive weapons like birbed wires deployable by allied engs to help holding a position if not too close from an holdable objective.

But, your mod make the FFE, Panzer impossible, but players could come in the respawn area! Could it be possible to make that when a players come in the other respawn area, they will have their life which grow down?

In french, the same thing :

Ton mod est super, mais tu n’empeiches pas vraiment le respawn sur l’autre camp, en fait le fait t’interdire les FFE et panza est bien, mais cela ne limite que le spawn qu’Ã 50%. En effet, a moins que j’ai mal parametre ce systeme, cela n’empeiche pas l’ennemis de venir sur le spawn… Par consequent, Serait il possible, de faire en sorte que ce dit enemis, dans la zone de respawn protege perde sa vie petit a petit histoire de le dissuder?

I think this is something you dont really want since some respawns can be re-captured by both teams until the map end.

Warning: i did take a look at the server to see if it was properly set and saw that it
wasn’t running in ‘pure’ mode. Punkbuster is enabled.

I dont know why the admin didn’t set it in pure mod and i apologize to players
who have been disconnected, thinking the normal etmain client was sufficient to
play on this server. I have tried to reach the admin but i think this is too late
since players may have already put this server on the black list because of that.

Time will tell us if people who usually complain against spawnkill are doing so just in order
to complain or if they really want things to evolve. However, players are always right.
If this mod does not match any need there is no point in continuing its devellopement…

Yes, i wee what you mean, if the fact to make FFE and others is a good thing to limit the SK, it will have some trouble in view of some others respawn could be take and loose by each sides.

But, some maps like Fueldump, it will be really good to make that way, because the Allie respawn is alaways the same. Having this option could be interessting, now, it will be to the player who mùake this area with the mod to think this or this other respawn cant be a restricted respawn in protection?
