invisible brushes/faces

(Electro) #1

:???:

when trying to compile my map, i get invisible brushes/faces that exist in the map file (pre-compile) but aren’t being rendered in-game.

some are detail brushes, some aren’t… so that can’t be the reason…

i’m completely confused as to why it’s happening

the q3map2 command line i’m using is one built into the gtkradiant 1.3.11-beta menu: BSP - meta, -vis, -light fast -filter -super 2

i’m compiling with q3map2 2.5.5-test-13

What texture/shader are on them?

(Electro) #3

no shader
a texture that works on other brushes, but for some reason isn’t showing up on random brushes

Is it inside any other brushes, such as a clip or botclip brush?

You may not have all the required shaders in shaderlist.txt and/or a rogue shader script in a PK3 might be causing a conflict.

Try running the map with r_clear 1 set in the console.

no, it’s not intersecting/overlapping with any brushes at all

i’ll check out shaderlist stuff and r_clear 1 when i get home, but i think they’re already handled properly (shaders)

i think i’ll also try some older q3map2 builds
because this is happening in another map of mine
(never used to happen)

double check to see if you have a ‘Caulk’ brush penetrating your brushes there… I had a similar problem that resulted in some sloppy shadows… that may be your case.

no brushes are intersecting them at all

Yeah i got the same error, the brush i have the error on has none of the following: no common textures used, no interesections , no wierd clips or hint brushes in front of it, just a plain old brush that used to work no has a invisable face, i dont know what caused it i didnt do anything to it, in fact i had not touched this part of the map at all when i noticed it, so i dunno whats going on

Try using BobToolz brush cleanup. It may just be a bad brush. Did you vertex/edge edit it at all?

(Electro) #11

i’ve already used the brushcleanup that comes with gtkradiant (has a button on the toolbar for it)

im getting the exact same problem

sometimes deleting the brush and then remaking it and re-texturing it helps but sometimes it dosent.

Its hapened with the base_trim/tin shader and with some other normal base_floor/… textures for me.
