Interview with Machinima.

(Mustkunstn1k) #1

I found it pretty interesting. Never knew that medics can see most valuable players better than others or something like that… or something like that. How does it exactly work?

(Nail) #2

they glow, you can see them through walls

(Jess Alon) #3

like l4d probably.

(X-Frame) #4

His last statement about the 360 vs PS3 interested me the most. Hope we can see the comparisons ourselves soon.

(Mustkunstn1k) #5

People automatically start to glow?
Is it only for medics?
What is it based on… the score, how close they are to objectives (as the needed class) etc?

(Nail) #6

medics see the most important revive as a glowing outline, not sure how it’s determined who is most important, but that’s what I got out of it

(Schwarzeis) #7

Maybe the player who chooses the current main-objective is deemd the most important one?

So the Engineer who is repairing the crane so the bot can move forward?

… yeah, that guy is the most important one

(system) #8

The most important guy is the one doing the most important objective.

(tokamak) #9

And I guess that guy has the biggest xp-tag on his head for killing him.

(Nail) #10

would make him my target, but not sure if context kills still give a bonus

(tokamak) #11

Would be an easy and effective way to make the xp distribution more accurate.

(abrain) #12

Is there another link of the interview? i cant watch this one.

(Nex) #13

Fov in the videos is awful…

I hope it will be changeble in PC version…

(BioSnark) #14

Seems the selected objective is highlighted in yellow including through walls and obstacles. If the objective is to escort someone, that’s likely the same effect.

(Cankor) #15

Exactly. The yellow highlights around team players suddenly make more sense.

edit: hmmmm, went back and looked again, where the engie is running to disarm the charge and they blow the two guys climbing up to their leve one of his team mates (Nasehi) is highlighted yellow, but he’s a soldier. Then when the engie chooses the disarm the bomb mission the yellow highlight goes away and turns to blue. You can see in his mission wheel a mission to escort Slowik, who is an operative.

I’m thinking his previous mission must have been to escort Nasehi for whatever reason, and that’s why Nasehi was yellow?

But notice as well the primary objective was highlighted yellow the entire time, pertty sure it’s always highlighted even if your mission is to escort someone.

Just a minute later though you see an enemy guy with the same yellow highlight (you can see him get a buff and then he gets taken down and turns red when he’s incapacitated. What;s with that, both friends and enemy can have a yellow highlight?

(tokamak) #16

Right click the video go to settings, take the display tab, disable hardware acceleration.

(elevator13) #17

I think the “halo” effect he was talking about is if you choose the “Escort x” mission from the command wheel, and get assigned to guard the player who has the primary objective as his mission.
