Interrupt Reloading?

(Samurai.) #1

Im not sure if this has been discussed so far, or if this could be implemented into the game, but it’s definitely something i have noticed a lot during my first few days of playing…

When reloading, should you be able to interrupt your reload by firing the remaining ammo you had in that clip anyway, or should it be left as it is where you either have to finish reloading or switch to another weapon?

I am kind of on the fence at the moment, as i can see some arguments for either side on this.

What are your opinions?

It’s been discussed before, and IIRC (to lazy to find search, vodka does that) it was pretty much agreed that firing the remainder in your mag should interrupt the reload (as well as sprinting).

(Samurai.) #3

Ah blame zerooo i mentioned it before on TS and he said make a thread

Yeah i agree to an extent but by not interrupting it encourages further use of the pistol or knife in the game other than when you simply run out of primary weapon ammo.

True, but from what I remember it’s annoying having a double reload when they’re out of knifing range. And since you can’t sprint whilst reloading you’re a sitting duck.

If you decide to cancel reload, you deserve that little delay. Switching quickly to and from pistol will cancel the reload and takes only about 0.3sec.

As a person with a lazy sprint finger, i highly discourage making sprint stop reloading(again), fire key, perhaps.

Meh, i don’t know. I like it simply as W:ET did it. Sometimes i ask if this game was even played by some, because DB has a fundamentally different concept which all shine through particularly in this issues e.g. if you say someone deserves a penalty or if you say that sprint should cancel reload. I can say it over and over again i think but it will not be understood i guess. W:ET and the quake series are created with a fundamentally different mindset, mainly away from real world into a own little container with a set of own rules and fun. This is the mindset i am talking about, and DB, if it proceeds going down that way, has nothing to do with W:ET except that there are different classes.

haha samu

i thought that u would search for it first, didnt know that it was discussed before tbh^^

but interrupt reload with fire would be great,

example:

u got 14 shots left in clip, u wanna reload, in the same moment somebody comes around the corner while you are reloading, just to be able to interrupt reload by pressing mouse1 to start fireing the last 14 shots which are left in clip would be nice!

tbh, im not @ home atm so i cant try it but i think its not working to interrupt reload with just starting to fire^^

got some rep from me for that one

This exactly express my feelings also.

Look at movements and gunhandlings, when you have those as close to WET they can be on the engine, then your on the road to a success, dont forget how long WET has been popular.

I cant see why game should be as realistic as possible, its supposed to be FUN not realistic imo.

Sprinting cancelling reload is slowing the game IMO, firing to cancel is ok, but decreasing the ability to escape / dodge while reloading is punishing again a player who is allready in a bad situation (reloading).

I want this game to be fast and reactive, actually it is fast but not reactive at all as (except for the sniper) getting the drop on someone or just having better reflexes count for nothing with the “shooting in a barrel” effect if you cant track properly someone’s head for 30 seconds. Well I stop ranting because I have so much performances issues I’m often 3 feet in front on my actual position, so impossible to aim properly even if I’m not that good, I was getting decent on the last patch where all was smooth (for me) and since the latest at least one third of my shots do not reg, or my caracter’s position is so off the grid I cant even tell where I am when I warp…

It is the thing I miss, reactivity, and cancelling reload while sprinting will bring another “slowing down action” that I wont enjoy.

true!

+1 for interrupting reload with fire
