Installation failed (code 4)

(StaticInFlux) #1

Hi, trying to install, but in the second phase of the bar down the bottom, I get this error.

inflate failed with Z_DATA_ERROR for ShooterGame/CookedPC/Textures.tfc
download: Hash check failed for C:\Program Files (x86)\WarChest\Dirty Bomb\Content\ShooterGame\CookedPC\900715601.wem
Installation failed (code 4) - please sign in again.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times.

No idea if you have already updated the launcher itself. If it has an update it should inform you, and you can also see it under the About section.
If it wasn’t updated yet - well try again when updated.

Thanks for the reply.

Launcher (Installed) Build 1916
Launcher (Available) SVN_1916

That’s is what is under the about section. I think that’s the most updated version… I can see no option to update further.

It looks like the content that the launcher has downloaded is corrupted, but the corruption stayed undetected (it should pick up on the corruption and re-download the broken parts.)

Deleting or renaming this folder: “C:\Program Files (x86)\WarChest\Dirty Bomb\UpdateContent” will cause the game to be re-downloaded and should fix your issue.

Ok thanks, trying it now.

jRAD beat me to it

Nope :frowning:

In that case, you might want to schedule a chkdsk for your C:\ drive just to make sure that everything’s working OK on the storage side of things.

(StaticInFlux) #9

Chkdsk run, doesn’t appear to be anything wrong there. Hmm. I guess I could try redownload the files again now that’s run?

(jRAD) #10

It’s definitely worth trying. If it happens again, it might be worth looking for any software running that might interfere or potentially modify data as it’s downloaded or written to disk (think virus scanners, proxies, etc.)

(StaticInFlux) #11

Re-installed on HDD this time to see if that would have any improvements, still no dice. Even turned off Firewall when trying to run it. Turned off Virus scanner. No proxies. Hmmmmm.
