Actually, you’re probably better off with an octagonal brush then clipping it.

Lol, true, unless you want it to be hollow… then when you’re done clipping it… use CSG>Make Hollow

This is best done with a model. Brushes won’t work if he wants to make the inside area accessible. Patches could work but still the easiest most bug free way of doing it is with a model.

CSG>Make Hollow is messy as hell, especially with 8 sides.

You’re better off making the thing from scratch than spending the time to tidy up a hollow.
