Increase footsteps volume

(Drophys) #1

They’re too silent, you cant hear if theres an enemy nearby

Well, there’s an old perk that does that already, but it’s really not an important feature.
I mean, I can still easily hear footsteps, but I’d imagine it varies depending on what headset you use. But even then it’s not very important to me. DB usually has multilayered maps, and is so fast that listening for footsteps isn’t very important anyways. A good team is one that patrols all routes, not one that listens for footsteps and hopes to get to where the enemy is before they’ve run off somewhere else.

I think the issue might be footsteps getting lost in the audio mix rather than the actual volume being too low. Either way, I often feel like I can’t hear footsteps when I should.

Directional audio still has issues when players are above or below (Underground :# ) so I hope audio in general gets some attention when devs have time.

Try “Big Ears” augment from the Gen 1 cards

I dont use headphones either i have a 5.1 surround sound setup and i hear the smoke nade hissing. i cant stand 2 channels for games 5.1 sounds more realistic when u hear arties drone(sky airstrike) fly from front to back 2 channel is just too meh. Id go 7.1 but im to lazy to disconect it from the living room and reinstalling to.my computer room as we dont use living room any more since dogs destroyed couches. And i dont think its worth going from 5.1 to 7.1 any way.

Also those explosions and other fancy effects most of the time just cover enemies whole so you can’t see a damn thing and shooty blindly

This isn’t supposed to be a sound-whoring, head-peaking game like CS:GO. Don’t get me wrong, sound comes in handy in some situations, but most of the time you won’t really need it. Anyways, I tend to hear footsteps fairly clearly. There’s so many other sounds going on at once, that sometimes you might miss them.

This thread can be summed up as “this game needs better audio”

Hearing where shots are coming from, and where people are walking should be an update all it’s own. I would love an update that is soley an audio overhaul.

(znuund) #12

Sound is not really important but it gives you the edge in a 1v1.

I hear the foot steps very clearly and I have a headset. Makes it easier.

I have no issues hearing footsteps when I have a headset on. Sennheiser master race? Also tilde + killallsounds = win.

Footsteps.
Audio on different height levels (If you shoot at Underground 1st stage it’ll sound like you’re shooting at 2nd stage for people at that stage).
A fix for Proxy mine audio (and the trigger radius).
