Incentives for new players to grind?

Had an interesting chat with a streamer playing Dirty bomb. One thing is getting more people to play Dirty bomb another is keeping them . Among other stuff like better MM and more maps, the grind could be a bit too much basically pushing you to buy something (Not forcing you but it feels a bit like it) thus some of the more critical people then start spouting nonsense that this is just another P2W game.

So what incentives could we give players to play more? These are just my suggestions

1: The missions are just decent, but they could be better and more rewarding. Besides making missions more interesting, make mission rewards give you around 3k.

2: A Merc Discount day? Say every Saturday one random mercs gets a nice discount for 24 hours, Say from 50k to 35k.

3: Give every new player starting a few normal cases and maybe one expert case?

I’d advise not to grind. It’ll fell very drudging and you’ll lose focus.

What I’d say is look for games that are highly clutched. It’s as rare as Cobalt card loadouts and it is very exhilirating to play. Learn merc team synergy and don’t focus on just one thing; let it come out naturally.

3k mission is WAYYY to much. 9k creds for just an hour of gamplay?

Not every mission. Nor every set of mission. Some of them at times.

Like 500 500 3000

You can literally get 50K by just playing in 2-3 days. Not being a Mission-Gollum. 2-3 days to get a merc is NOTHING.
I’m 105 hrs into DB and I’ve already got 3 mercs á 50K, 2 loadouts and multiple cases. Oh and I probably could get a fourth merc from all those trade-ups.
If this is too much for someone, he’s just lazy to PLAY the game.

I wouldn’t mind seeing some sort of bonus for leveling. I’m approaching level 30 (just hit 29, yay me) now and one measly 1k credit case per level really seems inadequate. Maybe as we hit milestone levels (10, 20, 30, etc.) there could be an elite case drop, or even better - a level skin that is exclusive to players who have reached that level. There’s very little incentive to continue playing but to try and grind out cobalts now. I don’t play but when my friends ask me to anymore, since comp is a waste of time and I’ve not much else to look forward to.

Uhm…What about the gameplay itself? You play DB for the card grind and not for DB?

The game itself is not all that much fun alone anymore. There are a lot of things in the game that bug me, most of which have gotten worse over the time I’ve played, and I have a hard time enjoying myself playing solo anymore. I’m also weird in that I enjoy leveling and grinding, as long as I receive some sort of (worthwhile) reward for doing so.

playing the game isnt the grind. PLaying the game is playing the game.

Playing the game is fun!

I was a new player when I started playing, I found grinding just fine. Now I’m level 49 almost 50 with every merc and almost every loadout. Never spent anything.

Why do you need carrot on stick?

I hope they’ll never discount mercs, I’m having the feeling that merc will just be like a free rotation merc.

35k is pretty close to the starter bonus credits so that merc would be in every match.

@Halosheep
Sounds to me like you should stop playing for a while. There’s nothing wrong with taking a break for a while, I do it now and then with DB. I stopped playing Smite for two months, and when I came back I was ready to get back into it.

If you’re not enjoying playing DB wait an update or two, play some other games you’ve been putting aside. If you come back and enjoy things more you win, and if instead you find a game you like more you still win.

Have you tried other F2P games? Heroes of the Storm, LoL, Hearthstone, have fun trying to get anything within a short period of time. All those games only have a daily incentive. DB gives us 3 hour incentives with missions that average out as 750. Not to mention they give us 3 of these. Now combined with dailies, you can quite quickly get a 50k merc.

Discounts should not be implemented yet, the pool is way too small. If they had more mercs, then I would say it would be a smart idea to give discounts to give some incentive to buy.

And how is this FPS game a P2W? That’s like saying TF2 is P2W because it’s hard to get the non-achievement unlocks. And what incentive is there to play CS:GO? You pay $15 and that’s it, you don’t get any actual unlocks from playing.
