In Your Opinion, Who/What is the BEST Medic?

(Xenithos) #21

I like them all too. I just prefer Phoenix or Sparks. Sometimes Aura. I’ll go any medic above Sawbonez these days after they nerfed him for no reason.

Aura first (I like shotguns), Phoenix second (for mobility). Sawbonez doesn’t appeal to me at all.

I’d like to say Phoenix. I really do. But cant.

I feel that just because you can easily topscore public games as Phoenix, doesn’t make him the “best” when looked into in terms of healing power and offensive capabilities, the things that really matter for turning the tides and winning games.

While our lovely Spaniard has slight speed advantage, he has to be physically present when dispensing heals unlike his ex-Navy colleague, who can be much more versatile and ranged with his packs of goodies. With the movement speed boost also comes the highly impacting -10hp handicap which makes for example the sticky flinging Nigerian prince grin like no tomorrow.

While Phoenixes instantaneous heal is powerful midfight, it still comes with the fact while charing it he is not shoving lead into faces of the enemy while doing so. Thus even his heals are best utilised behind cover in order to have more guns pointed at enemy when the time of shooting comes, at which point large medpacks would’ve sufficed just fine, if not better, anyways. Pulse cooldown is ridiculous compared to packs that can even be thrown and saved on floor as a safety measure beforehand.

Weapon arsenal on both are similar. Which makes the decision fall mostly on the hp amount of the merc itself and healing capabilities. Both which Sawbro wins quite sovereign. Phoenix as of now is more of a pubstar and “secondary medic because can’t have 2 Sawbonez’s” in more competitive setting.

Dang son! on those Hour differences. Bet you’d never guess my most played merc.

Also, well said Bontsa. Everyone on the forums usually goes to rate things via experience in harder difficulties (i.e. Competitive), and everything you said above for the most part I agree with. I think personally Sawbonez’ biggest advantage over Phoenix, out of all the ones we’ve mentioned and the countless hours I’ve actually spent doing math, thinking between them, and etc. is that Sawbonez’ packs have the ability to be set down for later.

With Phoenix you HAVE to know when to do it, meaning intuition is key, rather than letting your teammates decide. Usually this is why I like Phoenix more than Sawbonez, because that Instinctive timing difference is usually why I find Phoenix more fun than Sawbonez. I can feel when I need to heal them, versus letting them decide. Which partly makes me a communist healing dictator, but also allows me to have more ebb and control over movements and my team, which I prefer over Sawbonez.
I also hate aiming those darn medpacks. On a competitive level I honestly do think though that it’s safe to say that they’re tied, and they differ in utility whether you’re attacking or defending.
In competitive/ranked and PUGS Phoenix heals 48 hp a second as a maximum healing output.
In PUBS Phoenix’s maximum healing rate is ((teammates-1)12) (Potent packs + Extra supplies. (so in an 8v8 it’d be 712 = 84 hp/second.
In PUBS, PUGS AND Competitive/ranked - Sawbonez has a maximum healing rate of 33.166. (6 seconds per pack generation speed if I’m correct. And he can heal a maximum of one rhino at 199 lost hp to full hp before a new pack. So at his maximum (3 packs if thrown all at once to three different 1hp remaining rhinos would be 99.5 (back down to) 33.166 for the remainder of the match. With extra supplies (39.8 per second.)

This math takes into effect their hp over time in relation to their cool-downs in-between healing, and the maximum amount they can heal at one time. So, overall, Healing power, if we were just going by who could always give more if everyone was constantly dying, it’d be Phoenix. But this would NEVER HAPPEN, and Phoenix’s ability is often used for one or two people rather than 5+ anyway.

So, Pubstar is very accurate for Phoenix. More dying people means more business.
There all good but you need to use them wisely aura is good for one map or spot on map while sparkles/pheonix has there advantages in other spots/situations

(GatoCommodore) #27

id pick sparks everytime but Aura is just too helpful that my talent arent being used.

(nokiII) #28

Phoenix is the medic you pick if sparks is not available.

(bontsa) #29

Or if your team has a secondary medic who is aim-wise atrocious like me :smirk: What bans?

Also to this thread Sawbonez is still called “primary medic” in 5v5 lineups for a good reason.

(Xenithos) #30

It’s already apparent that the Devs were right when they said he was “outperforming the other medics, let’s reduce his instant hp upon successful throw” nerf.

I still think the nerf sucks, but at least he’s still the tried and true medic of 5v5s and sometimes the real game.

I wrote not available instead of ban for this specific purpose. You can’t play her, you pick phoenix, why you can’t play her doesn’t matter.

(bontsa) #32

Aye I read it wrong the first time around.

(Dysfnal) #33

Phoenix is a part time xp vendor, just be around your teammates and you topscore. GG EZ

(fragrantQuest) #34

there is no BEST medic it always depends on the situation…offense/defense/team

(Xenithos) #35

Dang Fragrant. Talk about bumping…

Mind the date.
