the impression was dawning on me too. i mean fresh enrivornment artists coming in, plus a certain hiring period and gettin acquainted with the team may take a while. to me that is a sure indication we’ll have to anticipate a further delay. while all is very understandable, this makes a compensation in terms of more news/videos/and so on (i won’t start the beta discussion here again O_o) more important to keep us happy and up-to-date… IMO
In the news...
Eternal optimists eh
Or perhaps (they’ve stated that they’re at beta already) they’re gearing up for their next project now that this one is drawing to a close? Everyone always states the conspiracy theory that Bethesda is the one who is dictating Brink’s release date, so I would suggest Brink has had all the design elements completed and they are now gearing up for a new title, a sequel, or perhaps DLC.
Yeah I think they’re starting on a new project as well. Not every role within a team remains usable throughout the lifetime of a project. Concept artists have nothing to do with end-phases for example.
But the ones advertised for do,
anyway:
We’re currently looking to hire additional artists and programmers for Brink
kind of gives it away.
I don’t think it means there will be a delay, surely this must be to ensure there wont be a delay if anything.
I’m not sure what you mean by concept artists. If you’re talking about this listing, the art listings are for end stage art assets and include a short term opening. Chris also noted the lead off.
Concepts artists are the ones that draw the art before anything digital has done to keep a consistent art direction.
I’m just inclined to hope for the possibility that this is a final big push to get the game out the door, or it is a necessary step toward creating some great DLC.
I definitley vote for slow and steady. Release it when it is ready.
I fired up COD: Black Ops and then BAD things happened to my CPU, and then google revealed the awful truth… playing on PC was fail. I had to turn everything down just to play SP. I had the trailer where they tout the beautiful graphics, but obviously OXM and Yahoo never played on a PC. And yeah, having a NPC look like Ben Stiller did not help.
Well just trace the whole thing back, they were used as an example of how different roles apply to different phases in the game.
Brink has been nominated for a Coolest Cinematic Trailer award over on Gamingblend
Head over to the site to check out all the nominees.
Throughout the year many companies, both big and small, release promotional trailers to help people recognize how cool their game is. Some of the trailers are simple yet effective other trailers are designed with a lot of careful precision to not only sell the concept of the game but to also get people riled up, amped up and excited for said game. Here at Gaming Blend it was decided that it would be a fun to show a little end-of-the-year appreciation for some of the coolest game trailers released throughout 2010.
The nominees are broken down into various categories and not the arbitrary genres associated with most game types (i.e., strategy games, action games, etc.) Instead, the categories are representative of how trailers are usually organized and released throughout the year (i.e., debut trailers, launch trailers, etc.) You can check out this year’s list of nominees below.
Hands on by Techland here http://techland.time.com/2010/12/10/on-the-brink-hands-on-with-2011s-experimental-shooter/
No new information but that’s not really surprising.
Edit: oops, didn’t see badman already had a thread on it, sorry.
BRINK is an interesting title that merges co-op and competitive multiplayer with a single-player story. Two factions, battling for control over a floating Utopian city dubbed The Ark. It’s cool idea that has us really excited, especially when you take the noob-friendly S.M.A.R.T. system into consideration. This may be Splash Damage’s first original IP, but there’s a good chance that it will be the first of a new franchise for them.

Obviously bethesda has sd by the balls, because once again nothing new was said.
nextgn.com has done a article on multiplayer games lacking innovation, but they give Brink a menton saying that:
Splash Damage’s Brink and Valve’s Portal 2 both look like they are reviving the first person shooter genre.
Only a small mention of Brink but good they can see the quality of the game.
