In-game score

(dutch) #1

Do you know what else I would love? I have no idea whether this has been mentioned yet.

The XP system is ok and all. Sure. But could we have a bit more detail in the scores table, a few more columns… whatever would be useful to display.

even if its just “XP | kills | assists | deaths” as an individual count, and even then a separate score for objectives… or something and then you can go look at your own individual stuff. Then you’d be able to go, “sweet, I can fourth, but I got way more kills, hooray!” and you’d be able to tell who has just been disguise spamming! haha

PLUS… it’ll give us something to do while we wait 30 seconds for the next map to even start to load…

no k/d. k/d kills team based objective games. all the little k/d whores would ruin the game. it already shows who had the most kills, that is enough for team based games

(zenstar) #3

oh look: another thread trying to sneak in k/d reporting

Some extra info wouldn’t go amiss, but generally if they have a high XP then they helped the team in some way. What extra info is really required? You know if your team won or lost. You know if you did your part in winning / losing. The only thing numbers will do is let you blame someone.
In pubs you don’t want to start the blame game going around. People will just leave the game.
In more formalised games you’ll talk to your teammates and it’ll be apparent who did the best / worst in the team.
I wouldn’t mind seeing my personal accuracy % for the game.
I wouldn’t mind seeing my personal longest life.
Other than that XP does the job fine IMO.

It’s what the Awards section is for. No cookie for coming in 2nd.

(wolfnemesis75) #5

Everyone I play with checks the Awards, and we discuss them. They do the trick. I like how its streamlined. Makes for the focus to be squarely on teamplay.

2nd is the first loser.

even XP is no guarantee. ive dont all the objectives on my own before and still had a low score compared to some. the thing is that at level 20 XP is irrelevant so you play to win. or build up another character!

(zenstar) #9

Agreed. But in general, if you do your job and work with the team you get a good XP rating.
In the end the only important stat is “did my team Win or Lose?”

Why is there no way to hover mouse over awards fields to see your personal scores in the awards like in ETQW?

Ho wait… it’s a console rip version, forgot it for a second

That argument never gets old.

Ho wait… it did about 52 years ago (that’s right: predating consoles) and still isn’t true!

The Bruttster may actually be right in this instance though  heh. It’s nice to see how you shape up, IF you didn’t come first - whch was just a mouse hover away in ET:QW.

Got to disagree on the “console rip” thing. SD work PC first. Cosole rip implies it was worked up on console first and then ported to PC. Normally “rip” implies quickly and badly.
You may not like the design decision around making it more user friendly and accessible (I know you hate the “magic button”) but you cannot call this a console rip.
Not only are the graphics superior but the entire server/client thing is completely different and superior to what the console players get.

Look at all FPSs nowadays: they all have a tendancy to use fewer and fewer buttons even if they’re PC exclusive. Not because they’re more controller firendly but because it’s easier for people to pick up. One of the goals for Brink (apparently) was to break out of the niche that the ET games are in and become more accessible to the public. You’re not going to do that by having to have a keyboard map in the manual just to explain all the keys and what they do.

You can complain all you want about design decisions (that’s a different argument) but this is certainly not a console rip.

At least, just allow us to see the total number of frags we did during a round (you know, just like etqw scoreboard).

All of this “teamplay for the noobs”-thing is totally messed up. The avg number of players online is just here to prove it.

(Jonkonaut) #15

I agree that k/d ratio is not done, I find it rather nice information but just doesn’t fit the game.

However a pie chart indicating how much each engineer has ‘welded’ on the objective, each operative hacked on objective, who did side objective, how many side barricades a certain soldier blew up in shipyard etc.

some stats like that would be nice

I agree with this, TF2 uses that system it does have no k/d just shows the nº of frags wich is newb friendly.

Speaking of awards section, we need more of them
Even humorous/humiliating ones would be welcomed

  • Most teamkills, Most deaths, Worst overall, Best of each bodytype, Best of each weapon type, Most accurate, Most parkour moves, etc.
Don’t even have to display them all, pick the three most applicable awards and show them
e.g. If there the max tk’s was 3 it’s not that interesting, but if someone performed 378 wall hops that’s kind of impressive

-Most rage quits.

(AmishWarMachine) #20

-Most mines stepped on
-Most Cortex Bomb deaths
-Most times Comms Hacked
-Most time spent idle
-Most time spent incapacitated

You know… humiliating stuff that I’d probably win more times than I’d be willing to admit.
